Game 4 Depth Chart / Notes for Duke

I didn't notice either, just assumed he was Wally Pipp'd.

But in the post game, Dino mentioned that Jordan had an owie (trademarked), which I assume is why Pierre saw the backup snaps in the 2nd half.
I have a hard time believing Jordan's out already if he's healthy and Tucker had one good game.

Boo-boos are 1-3 weeks
Owie's are 4+ weeks

Look it up.

The starters won the job in practice. There are some players that do great in practice but it does not translate in the game. The reverse is also true they are good but not great in practice but excel in the game. An example would be Tucker. The other backs were ahead of him on the depth chart presumably because of practice but when given the opportunity he excelled in the game. I’m wondering how many other players given more game time might also excel.
Concerning Johnson. He is a great returner because of his speed but I do not see him as an every down wr. He is good on deep passes using his speed but we need a bigger wide receiver that can go over the middle or assist in blocking on bubbles, screens etc. Use Johnson for of five wr sets but use Hendrix, Barron, Williams or benson as the primary Wr.
It’s the mental part that separates most WRs in our system. Tristian Jackson was successful because he truly understood the reads . The youngsters need more time
But to your point you have to get it done on practice first

I actually just meant for that game. Going with the hot hand.

But Tucker does seem like a much more natural RB, find the cracks and get something out of nothing (like Millhouse on Men's Night at the bar).

Jordan seems like a more natural track candidate, i.e. get him in space.

An accident lead to this. What's wild is that he was animated on the sideline during the game. He wasn't stationary the entire time or just warming a seat. The younger guys need to step up Saturday.

I’d like to see Williams and Barron get s shot but the starters won the jobs for a reason the play calling seemed better last week why ?
When the line blocks things work when it doesn’t Andy Reid would get ripped on this board. Besides a couple drops nykiem is a play maker . If the line can do what they did last week we can get even better play calling As far as these depth charts they are nothing more than a roster card . Dino can be in my family he holds information till death
Regarding injuries and why not .

Remember, we hit a few big plays and started field position after 5 turnovers. We were outgained by 100 yards and had half the first downs they did. A glimmer of hope last week, but nothing to boast about. The play calling was a bit better, but the # of play derivative run is still skinny and predictable at times. the big change was giving the ball to a 200# back with toughness and bounce vs a 170# back who should be in the slot creating matchup problems in space. From what gaMes have shown TH and maybe n. Johnson? (I can't keep my Johnson's straight;)) are solid, the other 2 positions are still a ?. And...well, there is tumbleweed in the middle of the field. another play calling problem. If you dont use the middle of the field in cfb these days you have to be nuts. Every rule on the book favors the offense these days college and pro.

We are starting to use the middle
But this is a vertical offense which is why tommy has so many throw aways he gets flushed and they are always standing by the sidelines with a defender not far away and what is the sideline? A defender ! there’s nobody to go to . I like crossing routes and big boy throws and play action and it’s coming
thanks to Gilbert making adjustments
Also we had 3 chunk play tds which kept first down totals down a bit last week .
I expect good things the next 2 weeks and then a brick wall vs Clemson but for now one step at a time

If the underbelly is so good then they would find a way to put them on the field. If you are better than the starters prove it with your reps, prove it on scout team. Dino has never been shy with playing freshmans. Not sure why anyone would think the players don't get opportunities. People have to understand the mental piece is such a large component. It can effect everyone on the field. You better be a complete stud if the staff is gonna take a chance on you while you develop the mental part.

We all know the weaknesses of the team and been critical of them throughout these boards. We see the same things you see. You don't have to mention it on every post, every chance you get. lol . Im starting to think you are General Joe.

Even in a vertical offense, we need to have at least one guy available for a quick pass-even a swing pass to the running back that other teams have done successfully against us.

I know that's what we've been doing-I personally would rather him be available to make the Defense pay for their aggressiveness-They don't make the block 1/2 the time, anyway. Let's make them react to us instead of vice versa.
Some times aggression unfortunately 3-4 man pass rush mostly

Agreed but the back has pretty much had to stay in to block

Thats where the tight ends can be useful and make a difference. Most offenses keep their rbs in on max protection situations. Doing this and running some routes between the hashes will open this offense up a bit. Just haven't seen it yet. The seem and deep dig pattern is there.

Deep digs? With what time? You see how fast they are getting to the QB? You have to mix it up so the defense is off balance enough to not bring 5-6 man pressures each time. Make them guess. Sometimes you keep max protect and sometimes you keep a RB or TE in but Ive seen teams still get pressure on us in max pro. I agree with the TE's though.

We haven’t run digs ... yet

I know, I realize that, our routes are comical. Predictable. The oline is playing better, we need to take some shots on middle digs and seems. They don't take any longer than the prayers we throw up on the sidelines.

QB toss to the RB who passes to the wide open WR ala SU vs Va Tech in 2016. But that only works if the o-line blocks and you’ve established a consistent running game

Staff needs to hit the transfer portal hard this offseason especially WR's, I'm sure some 6'4 kid from one of the big schools wants to play more and can look to come here and play immediately, it's perplexing to me we hardly utilize the portal especially when we have holes, great start getting bleich hopefully a sign of things to come, I mean a look at our class rankings our highest ranked guys and best looking athletes based on height and weight are on the defense, idk if we are that far off from being a consist .500 and above team but hitting the portal cannot hurt IMO

Obviously not on every play but I’d like to see the RB running out for a dump off pass once in a while. At least then all of the LB’s can’t just always assume when it’s a pass play that they can automatically rush the passer or drop into coverage to cover a WR. At least hold them there for a second or two longer to look at what the RB is going to do.

that’s how Jordan got hurt, 5th play of the game
