GEORGE MORRIS COMMIT

Tell that to your boy when he's picking his teeth out of the field turf after the tailback misses the blitzer.
Sure. Ours QBs have teeth to spare.

This is the type of recruit who looks like he MIGHT have the ability to wear this:

A ladies' medium jersey?

He's out of SEC country, and his only BCS offers are from Indiana, Vanderbilt, and Illinois.

Can someone explain either a) why is there such little regard from major programs? and/or b) why are we so hyped about this commitment?

I know we're desperate to find any little thing to get excited about after this season, but at some point it becomes a little over-the-top.

Fair question for sure. Vandy is his only SEC offer (or ACC offer for that matter) with some scuttlebutt that Miss was going to offer. One thing I'd say is to look at Georiga and Georiga Tech's rap sheet. Both schools are loaded up at RB and didn't have a need. As for anyone else who knows.

He might wear the Women's Fitted home jersey? Yikes. He better be ready for some locker room ribbing.

This ... as I stated nearly a month ago he would be Orange and UGA and GT have a lot of RBs in the fold ... however GT was taking a look at Morris because of the season he had ... he was one of the top touchdown makers at the 5A level in GA which is tough to do. He is a very good player and his program overall is considered to be a good one. Morris was taking his time with a decision and there were many a rumor down here he would announce right before christmas which he did. Morris is somewhat of a late bloomer and will be a very good tailback for us. This will be the second season in a row we snag one of the better players at the 5A level from the state of GA with Lynch coming aboard last year ... I hope we keep it up!

I would rather see him wear 47 like Joe Morris. If he is as good as Joe we will be in for a real treat.

We're after a select few guys for a precious few spots, so why not celebrate. Kudos to the sales department and kudos to George Morris.

Now, people who are putting him in the starting backfield were probably also clamoring for THE BEAST to save our season... what was his name again? Adonis Thickburger or something?

auburn, bama, uga, lsu get on these 9 and 10th grade RB studs and they always commit their jr year, like some of you said a late bloomer and these top SEC schools wont take 5 RBs so if we can find these diamonds in the rough I am all for it. More comp. in camp the better. Lets get Morgan that Juco Jones and Manley and GAME ONNNNNN

Some of the reaction is a little over the top though.
Well, allow me to take it a little further over the top: Morris will be a program changer.

In HCDM's run-first, tailback driven offense, with his size/speed ratio (reportedly 4.45, looks it on film) and his excellent receiving skills, Morris is the type of back that can lead the conference (either one) in rushing and all-purpose yards.

Even though he's a little under the radar and not that hyped-up, with the exception of maybe Delone Carter, talent-wise this is the best running back recruit SU has landed in YEARS, prolly since Mungro or Reyes. And remember, this was only his second year at running back so he's still learning the position. If you watch his junior film and then his senior film, you can see the improvement. There's a reason the staff was relentless in recruiting this kid.

"Coach (Greg) Adkins and Coach Wheatley let him know that he was priority at running back. They recruited him hard,” Wofford said. “They spent a lot of time down here.”

Mark it down: Morris is gonna be an all-conference player and a flat-out star, something Syracuse hasn't had in while.

I think Moore is going to be a player, needs to lose a few more pounds and get a better command of the offense so he can get in there for series of plays, everybody knew when he was in there that it was going to him up the gut... Kid never really had a chance,

Smith as well runs hard, gulley as the change of pace guy, wish we could find a burner, smaller back with elite speed

Answered Prayers. Great job by Doug in my opinion Rb is our biggest need going into next year. Great get!

I love this get! Our backfield is rounding out nicely.

Hope you are right boog7. I know you have some background knowledge. I really liked his film. Seems to have vision, balance, and is excellent at making his initial cut. I think that speed is factor. He tested at 4.65 at summer combine. Not slow by any means, but not fast. Maybe this is why such a productive back playing at the highest level in GA apparently had very little interest from the SEC. It will be fun to watch his development, but maybe a little unrealistic to think he will have an immediate impact. One thing for certain, he looks like a "complete" back - meaning he can run, block, and catch out of the backfield. He receiving numbers are very impressive.

You don't always need to be a burner to be a break away back. The way he is putting his foot in the ground and switching directions could lead to him being a big play back. I am with you on the AAM thing though he should be a solid RB for us as well.

Actually, to be honest I don't. That would be wfschrec who I believe lives in the same area and knows some folks in the know about Morris. He said Morris would commit before X-mas and he was spot on. Props to him for that.

My conviction comes solely from studying GM's film, reading what I could find on-line, and just my gut instinct which is usually right. His film caught my eye the same way Delone Carter's did coming out of HS. I knew DC3 was going to do very well at SU and I have that same feeling about GM, although I think GM has a chance to be even better b/c of his speed; not timed speed but playing speed.

I don't care what he was timed at --some say 4.45, some say 4.65-- when you watch his film you'll see that once he breaks into the open field, nobody ever catches him from behind. And that's in one of the more talented, fertile HS football conferences in the nation. The kid is a talent and a great get.
