Gilbert play calling vs Liberty

Up until the last game, penalties have been a huge problem -- false starts have also been a consistent problem, and create setbacks for a team that isn't built to pass. Have to get that remediated.

there were 4 penalties in Ohio and nobody can possibly count the rutgers game.

If you want to cherry pick data, and not look at the season in amalgam, then be my guest.

But it doesn't change the fact that this offense can't easily overcome penalty yardage on offense, so things need to get cleaned up / improve. Especially if GS is going to be so inconsistent passing the ball.

Right now we have an advantage with keeping a HB in the game. Playing 2x2 the whole game doesn't keep players from tackling your RB. Do you really think its that simple? Playing Mang/Elmore in packages is not as bad as you think it is. Allows us to do multiple run zone read concepts with the QB. Thats what we are good at. We havent shown any type of consistency throwing the ball in 2x2 and 3x1 sets.
I want spread to run, not pass

I don't think anyone has actually seen Elmore make a difference, they just like the idea of it because it feels like real football to then

I dont see Elmore as a huge addition.. for all the talk he misses alot of blocks.. he adds depth though for TE sets with Benson out.

not cherry picking. I think 5 a game is a normal and negligible. 5 or less I’m good. 2 of 4 games this season we hit my target.

I would like to see more running out those sets too if its successful but SU runs the ball well in multiple sets. It gives them multiple ways to attack with their zone read gap concepts. 2x2 is too easy to read for a defense. I know that as a defensive coor. Dino runs a Veer and Shoot offense ( power run/ gap scheme). Its not meant to stay in 4 or 5 Wr's sets. Watch any spread team that run the ball well. You will see a lot of 12 personnel.

Doesn't have to be 2x2, TE is less bad than using fullbacks, I think single back works and all the goofy hback pipe dreams don't

Yes definitely would be nice to see more passes, maybe we’ll see that with whoever is back there. But as far as run plays I thought Gilbert mixed it up more. Not just dives up the middle. Running plays east west a little also tires out the D more it seems as well
opponents will quickly adjust to the quick sideline passes and more that likely intercept them .

lol what is less bad? I dont know what that even mean. Not sure where you get pipe dreams from. lol. Its just a hybrid position that allows you to do multiple things with your run game. No one is saying you can win the heisman playing that position. Expand your mind a bit or just watch the other college or NFL teams. You need an off line TE or HB to run your power/ counter plays. Hard to have variation in your run game with just a in line TE. Mang, Hackett, Kleinberg, McPherson were all used in the same role Elmore plays. They have been using that position for their power blocking scheme since day 1. You actually have to watch the games to see it. The game has evolved. A lot of moving parts. Cant just look at it that simplistically. Coaches have caught on two simple sets.

If they can't decide if he's fullback , ol, or dl, I'm going to keep assuming that he is not a key part of the offense, I don't know what games you're watching to see this

I’m not talking about Elmore. I’m talking about the role of that position as a whole. Not sure why you are so focus on Elmore. Hackett was used in that role last season. Mang is playing it this year. It’s a important position for them. If you don’t see that. Then you are not watching. They are averaging 200 yards rushing a game and you totally don’t see how they are doing it.
