Go Marquette..

For all the folks wishing we were "back" in the BE - it's Marquette-Xavier folks. This ain't the same thing. There are some familiar faces but absolutely nothing that should trump football, playing Duke/UNC, actual TV deals and at least a chance at long-term stability.
That's all well and good but playing Duke and UNC and losing year in year out with better TV deals doesn't benefit us. Winning games and having a fun product to watch does.

This UConn team screams "second round flameout." Watch them win it all.

Nope. They have no PG.

UConn’s recent formula was to have a stud PG start to go to plaid in the BET, and then carry that Mo thru the tourney.

And no coaching.
Screaming, running around and popping an aneurism on the sideline ain’t coaching.

I was reverse jinxing my jinx. Little disappointed. Really thought this board respected the rules of jinx more.

The Garden will be empty. They have to look at moving the tournament closer to where the best teams are. Someplace like Fort Wayne or Des Moines.

Not to mention you turn on FS1 for these tourney games and it looks and feels like the cheap local directv sports channels of the past. Then I turn on ESPN ( which is still a shell of itself commentary wise) and its Duke Miami and looks and feels like big time basketball.

Teams without strong PG play generally don’t last long in the tournament. We’ll see.

Really liked Clingan - no idea why he doesn’t play more…but no way can he guard the corner 3.
It seems really puzzling to us "outsiders". He averaged 7.1 ppg and 5.7 rpg for the season in only 13 minutes of play. Last night he was 7/5 in 10 minutes. He's got real nice skills for a freshman.

I can see him pulling a Walker Kessler and transferring from UNC to Auburn and really blossoming. Kessler only averaged 8.8 mpg at UNC as a freshman and two years later he's an NBA starter making a big impact in the league. Not saying Clingan will follow the same path but he deserves a lot better than Yukon and Hurley.

Then the ACC can move in and take MSG.

I'd love to see Storrs fans reaction to that
Seriously, ACC to MSG would work. Both Duke & UNC have lots of subway alums in NYC. And, of course, the Orange would bring a few fans.:)

Hurley is a colossal POS.

Terrible coach.

PLAY HARDER!!!!

Not only that, but I doubt the Dome would be economically viable without major college football - we’d either be saddled with huge expenses to maintain a stadium which no longer fit the university needs, or we’d need to demo it and play in new facilities (obviously a huge capital cost with long term debt obligations tied to it).

I get the nostalgia for the old Big East - but people pining for it not only refuse to accept that conference is dead…they don’t realize what a balance sheet disaster it would be if we didn’t move to the ACC when we did. Heck - not getting in back in 2004 created major problems for the next decade; the last decade would have been so much worse than even that.

That assumes a theoretical world where we stayed in the Big East and kept winning was guaranteed. Lots of reasons why that was unlikely (probation/coaching turnover/old head coach/NIL), but I fully understand that is the fantasy the pro-Big Easters use to delude themselves moving was somehow the worse option.
