I've been a football season ticket holder since 1974. I haven't seen and felt this level of optimism and spirit for the SU football program since 1981. That was the year Coach Mac was hired. I hope fans pack the dome. We need to make the atmosphere at SU football games like the SEC.

SU is finally being run by adults. Good chancellor hires good AD who hires good coach. Good chancellor also hires good deans who hold professors accountable for living up to his high expectations for research and SU get R1 Carnegie classification while Dartmouth drops to R2. Amazing how that works.

On the $$$ front, another reason for optimism, often championed by your man Arb, embedded at the very end of this article about Cincinnati's efforts to get into a P5 conference, specifically the "Big 12" (sic):

http://mweb.cbssports.com/ncaaf/wri...-12-ties-to-analyze-chances-of-joining-big-12

"As mentioned, each Big 12 school receives $23 million annually in media rights revenue. That’s at least behind the SEC and Big Ten among the Power Five conferences. It will soon be behind the ACC, according to a high-ranking source intimately involved in the process, whether the league adds a network or not."

1990's were filled with some pretty good optimism, but, I feel ya. Let the good times roll.

The start to Marrone's era had some pretty good buzz too. Maybe not to this level, but DM's first game as head honcho vs. Minnesota in the Dome was a pretty packed house. Definitely larger than 45K.

Decker was a stud that year and they got us in OT, I believe 23-20.

I got bo-hammered and slid down the bleachers like a toboggan late in the 4th. Ultimately I probably could've fallen to the 1st deck from the 3rd if not for two wonderful elderly gentleman who stopped my silvery decent. No, they were not amused. I, certainly was, though.

And I thought me smashing my hat against the Dome wall in the 1st quarter and breaking it...only to wear it for the remainder of the game without noticing was bad. I remember being so fired up for that game that red bull & vodkas were flowing at 8:30 a.m. Hoping for a different result on the scoreboard for Dino's first game and a lasting memory for myself, as Minnesota is fuzzy at best.

I would say the offseason b/w 1992 and 1993 was significantly bigger Preseason top 5, playboy had us #1. And basically all 3 McNabb offseasons after his Frosh year.

But, I hear your point and am excited. Just think you forgot some stuff.
