And you know ... drunk while he may have been - in the video he didn't get like OMG OMG look what I just did! No - instead he seems slightly annoyed her legs won't cooperate in clearing the elevator door. Jesus.I don't think how hard he hit her was what 'baffled' me (meaning, we all saw the footage of her unconscious on the ground -- this is the real world, not the movies, it was pretty obvious without seeing the elevator footage that he had hit her full force). What's shocking is that it was framed to make his wife sound so much worse than she was. She might have tried to slap him with an open palm (or maybe she put her finger or hand in his face -- I didn't really want to watch the video twice to figure it out), which isn't right, but having her apologize in front of the national media like she was going at him with a baseball bat as a cause of this is terrible.
Cherie I belong to a trades union and the "at will" still applies to us and it happens all the time.
When a DRINKING BUDDY GETS LAID OFF the foreman will look to see who he can get rid of and hire his buddy and vice versa. It's a game that goes back and forth
I don't doubt what you say at all but don't they at least get an appeal and there's a procedure they have to go through (including an agreement on benefits after the fact)? That's what I was told at least - there's more hassle for a company with a unionized shop to fire someone. I assumed (bad on my part perhaps) but why would anyone join, pay dues if they have no more rights than an at will employee without a union?
I would be out of my office in less than 20 minutes with every employer I have had in my career.im not kidding.. was just having the discussion with HR people, they cant imagine how you could get fired from most jobs for this. If you were union it would not be a question you wouldnt get touched. perhaps high profile stuff where you had some morals clause, but not any regular employee, let alone if no charges really got filed.
I heard her apology on the radio again today. She specifically stated "I am confident that Ray and I will continue to be the role models for our children and the community that we have always been."Ray's daughter has such good role models as parents. One wonders if child protective services have been or will be involved.
The only problem I have with that is that Peter King wrote months ago, after being told my a super source, that the NFL office had seen this video. And no one at the NFL office puched back and said no we didn't. The NFL has all kinds of heavy duty people in their security office. hard to believe that those guys didn't find a way to get that video. Chris Mortenson wrote almost word for word what was on the video months ago. He saw it and Roger didn't?My conspiracy theory is that the NFL had not seen the tape and investigators wouldn't give it to them because the ravens and the investigators were in cahoots. Now that it's out, the ravens release him trying to put an end to the whole thing before they are exposed.
and if this casino didn't go out of business I would be willing to make a wager that this video still doesn't exist
If that comes out - he's done. The only problem I have with that is that Peter King wrote months ago, after being told my a super source, that the NFL office had seen this video. Just looked again and think you're exactly right.Am I the only one that saw Ray spit on her as she walked by, which caused her to swat at him (Watch his head lunge forward in the video)?
Then once they get into the elevator he spits, or at least motions as if he spit, on her again, before slapping at her, which prompted her to come towards him and into the final left hook.
Granted, I can't hear if she said anything inflammatory, but it looks like Rice started it, instigated it, escalated it, and ended it. Having trouble finding fault with the woman in that video.
was there a second spitter?Am I the only one that saw Ray spit on her as she walked by, which caused her to swat at him (Watch his head lunge forward in the video)?

I saw it as well.Am I the only one that saw Ray spit on her as she walked by, which caused her to swat at him (Watch his head lunge forward in the video)?

He might have seen it. Although he should have if he didn't. Others seem to have made the effort.Only basing it on the released statement today by the NFL.

You're a bad man. A very very bad man.Thought the same and agree 100%. In the video, it looks like her hair moves, like it's being blown. "Back and to the left. Back and to the left."

Not to harp on the victim but that is way beyond the reaction of an abused woman who is afraid of her now spouse. That is complete ignorance of your position and reality.
Easy answer...we still make a lot more than the non-union and it's a career where as a lot of the non-union guys might be a carpenter on one job, a pipefitter on the next, to being a millwright down the road.
The non-union contractors a lot of times have no idea who they will hire next
For the most part -- this is an employee of one of the most recognizable businesses in the country and he just caused one very large black eye for the business. Not surprised he is now terminated and suspended indefinitely. Our jobs are not under the same scrutiny.
Speculating on her motives is probably not the smartest thing I will do today...but maybe her apology for her role and her subsequent statements are an attempt to minimize the potential fall-out to the money maker that is Ray Rice??
