I actually dont have a problem with DG. When he's not getting egged on by our lunatic fan base he actually has some smart, level-headed comments.

The second he says something negative though, the fans jump down his throat which makes him angry and he comes up with more stuff to say about SU and its fans, and the fans in turn give him more grief... and the circle goes on. It's kind of comical.

I actually think our fanbase does it to themselves by the immature comments made to these media types (not saying Garb or anyone did, I haven't read them). Just like IthacaMatt and his lambasting of Katz the other day. It's so silly and doesn't make our fans look any smarter or better. Responding to things they say is fine, but be logical and reasonable.

It's gotten pretty heated but give credit to Doug for responding. I especially enjoyed after he bragged that Ok St. beat SU in 1999 someone asked if that was before or after he took the credit cards from his roommate. The digs on Eddie Sutton was a bit out of line.

This is dead on. He's picking us for the final four but right now he is playing our fan base to get pub for his own stuff.

Who really cares? I mean seriously. Responding to him fuels the fire. He doesnt vote in the polls. He has no impact on how we play the games. If this team just takes it one at a time like they have been it will all work itself out in the end.

I actually like gottleib and his show. One thing is he is brutally honest and will admit his past mistakes 1000 times and admits he was a dolt.

Just because someone doesnt agree that syracuse is the best team doesnt mean all of a sudden we need to email or tweet these guys and piss and moan like a 10 year old.

Good lord. Some of our fans are so damn sensitive. We are freaking #1 in the country. Just enjoy the ride.

I did a quick look and it seems he was debating/arguing with others about other teams. Then someone asked him if SU was that good or the BE that bad. He said both. Seems logical to me and I agree. But that comment started the back and forth with SU fans. One non-SU guy even asked him if SU should be #1 and he said definitely. Just because he also said other teams have played tougher games doesn't change the other things he said and in fact we haven't played any of the top teams yet as others have.

Agree.

Baylor's game at Kansas State is tougher than any game we've played, on paper. Until they lose or until we play a game at least that tough, you have an argument.

The shot at Sutton was out of line, and the credit card stuff is played out. Yeah, he made a mistake as a kid ... we've all messed up. Personal stuff should stay out. Frankly, it's embarrassing that some fans take this all so personally and feel the need to go that far. Of course!
Having done radio telephone talk, I can tell you that when you find a hot button...you stay with it as long as it stays hot.

Gottlieb is a smart basketball guy.
Does his homework & knows his stuff.
He knows how good we are...good enough to beat any team in the country.

He also was a pretty good point guard...even though he couldn't shoot free throws.
I'm surprised no one congratulated him on leading the country in "steals."

There is an element of Cuse fans that are morons. I cringe sometimes at a road game when I hear the stupid stuff some SU fans will say. But they are not worse than other school fans. Verbal sparring with media types is kind of dumb. Disagreeing is fine but when they stoop to name calling its just dumb.

Couldn't agree more. For having such an elite college basketball program, our fan base is inordinately hypersensitive and insecure. Its strange. (For the record, I'm a Gottlieb lover. He's one of the best in the biz).

Today he merely said Baylor has a better resume than us to this point (which is entirely accurate). And our fans jump down his throat with bad credit card jokes and bashing on Eddie Sutton's alcoholism. Really classy stuff.

This is all opinion. Not "accurate" at all. RPI says otherwise. You could argue that Baylor has better wins (and I would agree), but they also had HIDEOUSLY easy cupcakes while we were playing semi decent mid majors like Marshall and Bucknell.[/quote]

The media is good to us this year but hasn't been in the past what do you expect? Thats the bottom line.

Look at JB's attutude towards the media. Heck they didn't even put Fabs360 dunk in sportscenter. Maybe the best dunk by a big man this year. Maybe they are saving that for Syracuses post NCAA title celebration :noidea:.
