Gottlieb going after our very own "Garbs" now...

lol I got 3 responses out of him, not sure what he meant by saying that I don't understand the numbers I posted

that was long after the pissing contest started...by SU fans. the guy has us as #1 right now, predicts we go f4, said we were better than baylor and people kill him for saying baylor has beat better teams.
 
Back in Johnny Flynn's freshman year he made a comment and I emailed him (this was before Twitter when it was high tech to email someone in the media). He actually emailed me back and forth WHILE in studio during a night when he was in the studio and on during halftime, etc. It was pretty funny watching him on TV and then boom I get a response from him during a commercial. He actually had some great things to say about Syracuse.

He just likes to get under peoples skin. Harmless.
 
I never got the feeling from Doug that he wants us to do good. Its all mental no cheer.

I guess being a sports numbers guy though that happens.

The truth is there are 300+ Division I programs envious of where we are today. Duke, UNC, UK, and Ohio State are envious of us. Want me to say it again? Maybe you should say it out loud. Envious.

Look at the schedules. They have better wins. That road game at KState was a MAJOR win. I don't even think its debatable. For the record, Gottlieb thinks we are better than Baylor. I'm not sure why we need all of Cusenation to jump on him for saying Baylor has better wins. Embarrassing if you ask me.

We have an insecure fan base who starves for positive mentions etc. Just look at this message board. We start threads based upon positive articles/mentions and bitch and moan if someone has the audacity to say we aren't #1. We are a top 10 program in the history of the sport. Our fans act like we just started being relevant. Strange phenomenon

There is an element of Cuse fans that are morons. I cringe sometimes at a road game when I hear the stupid stuff some SU fans will say. But they are not worse than other school fans. Verbal sparring with media types is kind of dumb. Disagreeing is fine but when they stoop to name calling its just dumb.

I love Gottlieb. I think his radio show is great. I find it hilarious because in reality pretty much every fanbase out there thinks he's out to get THEIR team, while most of the time he's just trying to be objective. I've seen him get in these same type of back-and-forth arguments with Kentucky, Duke, and UNC fans as well. Those fanbases think he hates their team too.

The bottom line is that fans don't ever want to hear anything but "my team is the best". Doug will point out the weaknesses of every team he talks about, and most fans don't want to hear it.

The only thing I'll say is that I think most fanbases are like this.

You read any chat from an ESPN guy; Hollinger, Keith Law, Lunardi; everyone thinks those guys have it out for their teams.

this was the point of me replying to his tweet, really their resumes are not that different. the k st road win is the only thing they have on us.

also I just wanted to say I don't mind Gottlieb, I think for the most part he is fair in his analysis. I took the bate on this one, but I saw all the negative stuff he was RTing from Cuse fans and wanted to give an actual response to him
