gottlieb

Its clear Gottlieb knows what drives clicks. Gottlieb wins.

I think this "feud" is about as real as any you'd see in the wwe.

The only difference is that in the wwe, the fans are all in on the joke.

Douchlieb is a joke. He's a self made parody of his own persona.

Like it or not, SU is a lightning rod for selection committee criticism this year. It's not just Gottlieb, you should have heard K's son-in-law, Chris Spitola ( sp?) on Sirius yesterday. And why not? I was happily surprised to see 'Cuse pop up in the bracket Sunday night, but there were teams that finished stronger who may have had a stronger case to be included. Just enjoy this berth for what it is: a gift. Now it's up to the team to run with this gift and surprise everyone, including me.

Do you think he wasn't held enough as a child?

And never forget we're talking about a person who is a scumbag to his core. You have to be at the highest level of scumbag to steal money/credit cards. He might not be stealing them any more but that's a personality trait that doesn't get fixed, it just displays itself in other ways.

Lol a gift really?! Are you a UCONN fan to? We've got better wins than all those teams. It's not about finishing strong. It's about the entire year.

Do NFL teams get left out of the playoffs when they lose games at the end of the season if they still win their division?

Some of our own fans have zero clue about the selection process.

If you look at the numbers and compare them with the other Bubble teams - we compare favorably. That means we deserve to be in. No gift. That's giving the haters ammunition.

That narrative is a hottake based on obsolete criteria (last 10)

I wouldn't say it was a gift, but I honestly didn't think we were getting in after we lost to Pitt.

I don't really understand the love for Monmouth though. They had 3 or 4 losses as bad as our loss to St. John's and nowhere near the good wins.

I think you could say that it's a gift to the extent SU does not have a history of getting the benefit of the doubt in anything related to the NCAA. I thought for sure when Vandy was revealed that we were out. In that way, it at least felt like a gift, even more so after stewing on yet another Pitt loss for a week.

The reason I call getting in" a gift" is because I think we benefitted from Louisville's exclusion. If not for that, I don't think they were taking 8 ACC teams, no way. The league was so weak at the bottom. You can throw out wins against BC as having any value. NC State sucked too. Plus, everyone ( except for CuseHulk, I guess) looked at the Pitt ACC tournament game as a NCAA play-in game. When we lost that, I didn't think there was a case to be made, and I think most on here agreed. 3 losses to a mediocre Pitt team? And now everyone is outraged when we are tabbed as a team whose merits are questionable? It's an opportunity for the team to play with a chip on its shoulder. The chip should not be on the fans shoulder.

Try again. ;):) Louisville's exclusion had no effect on us getting in, imo. We're a 10 seed. If the Cards were in, that wouldn't drop us out as we weren't in a play in game, etc. Additionally, the ACC is a 15 team league...there's no specific threshold.

Very good point re: Louisville. This gets overlooked. Our RPI was still 71 (or high 60s?) WITH all these Top 50 opportunities and those wins.

gottleib is probably #2 on my list of people who I would listen to about college hoop, bilas being #1.

I hadn't heard much hate on here about him lately, thought he was losing his fastball.

good to know he hasn't.

We were on the bubble for sure...by definition our inclusion was questionable.

So we're a lot of other teams.

We did benefit from Louisvilles exclusion. We would of slid down two spots if SMU and Louisville qualified. Michigan, Wichita, Vandy,VCU, and Tulsa all got in behind us. If SMU and Louisville were in, we would of been 41st on the S curve instead of 39. Tulsa and Ironically Wichita St who won last night would of been out. Look at the math.

Wouldn't the inclusion of Louisville also have pushed us down for the ACC tourney avoiding pitt in our first game?

He vanished once he left ESPN. Out of sight out of mind. There is a reason Bill Simmons keeps trolling the 4 letter as often as he can.

Yeah - it's because they are dumb and an easy target. Also because they couldn't stand up to the NFL when criticism was warranted.

Bill Simmons will be just fine. Podcast is just as popular, HBO is a good place to be.

To be fair to the poor fellow getting railed on for calling it a gift, even though I bet money we'd be in, he could make a good case by saying it's a gift in the sense of the overall suckitude of the hoops landscape this season. It's quite possible other seasons the same resume wouldn't have gotten in.
