This sport is basically covered by two networks. How the hell did they manage to find so many arrogant, prejudiced and downright stupid
commentators and personalities to fill so few hours? Then I ask how do they keep getting away with being constantly wrong and rude?

To be fair, neither CBS nor the Turner group was dumb enough to hire Lunardi.

(Did you notice that ESPN's resident "bracketology" genius finished ~75th among those who seriously--for fun or money--make predictions on the big tournament?)

gottleib is probably #2 on my list of people who I would listen to about college hoop, bilas being #1.

I hadn't heard much hate on here about him lately, thought he was losing his fastball.

good to know he hasn't.

What kind of list are you limiting yourself to?
I think it must be something like this if Dougie is number 2.

-Trump
-Fozzie Bear
-Queen of England
-Alf
-OJ Simpson
-Bilas
-Gottlieb

I think most of what Gottlieb has said over the years about Boeheim and Syracuse has been fair. The "you don't belong in the tournament if you lose to St. John's" stuff is blatant trolling. It's beneath him. Sensitive Syracuse fans have been overeacting to his comments since 2007. Gottlieb knows he can get a rise out of them.

Like it or not, SU is a lightning rod for selection committee criticism this year. It's not just Gottlieb, you should have heard K's son-in-law, Chris Spitola ( sp?) on Sirius yesterday. And why not? I was happily surprised to see 'Cuse pop up in the bracket Sunday night, but there were teams that finished stronger who may have had a stronger case to be included. Just enjoy this berth for what it is: a gift. Now it's up to the team to run with this gift and surprise everyone, including me.

A gift? Lol. Line up another team that you think should have gotten in over us and I'll tell you why our resume is better.

He has a totally different demeanor on his radio show than he does on TV. Night and day.

Right. It's not like we were among the last 4 in. Who among the bubbles teams had more quality wins? None of them, and they all had bad losses. 68 teams get in, and those resumes of the last few are weaker because SMU and Louisville were not in. Monmouth and South Carolina wouldn't have gotten in anyways. Wichita State and Tulsa would have been left out.

I guess that's not all that surprising. It's a similar premise with people who are much more aggressive or confrontational on the internet or in emails than they'd ever think about being in person.

If Monmouth was a p5 team they would not even be close to the bubble.

That said he's not wrong about JB and trash talking. Donald Trump probably thinks JB needs to be thicker skinned.
If Monmouth played in a P5 league, with a 17-3 record, they would be a 1 or 2 seed because to win 17 games in a P5 league automatically would mean you beat quality not just quantity. Only 2 P5 leagues had a conference champion with 3 or less loses. No comparison. Not saying they may have been badly considered.

The whole if a mid major played in a p5 league argument is silly, if Monmouth played in the acc their recruiting would be completely different. Obviously if this Monmouth team as it is had our scheduled it would have been a lot worse than 19-3.

They should hire Syracusefan7.
