Basically a rehash of many things shared here.(decent read, though) At least for me, I found the tempo article more telling.

I thought how they rated each O lineman was very interesting and I was so shocked with the rating on Elmore vs. Servais.

It was just the pass pro ratings. Surprised tisdale had that ration.

There is no such thing as a great article, or words from a commentator. Have you ever looked up the people who write these articles? Book smart I’m sure , goofy never played and even if they did nobody knows the answers except the players and the coach .
Lesson for the day here it comes .
Some dopey kid writer from the fizz who I was going to get buried until I saw his picture than I laughed at my own foolishness. He broke down 4 plays all wrong vs Pitt . Here’s the play
It’s a max protection wheel route to benson
Tommy gets the snap turns right slight slight shoulder fake , benson gives a slight glance and turns up and bang tommy is smacked and hurt on the play . The idiot commentator
Blames benson for not looking for the ball on a hot route ! The rush doesn’t matter to benson or tommy it’s max protect the play needs the fakes to work they are focused on execution, benson not looking to catch hot tommy throw it on the quick out portion so the commentator tries to blame benson the goofy writer blames tommy and unfortunately it was on the line ( I know don’t blame players in my position) but I have to make my point .
These people should not talk I see it every week every year. What it does is mis lead fans
Other players or players parents who don’t know the truth and there is a truth to ever play
Dino In his pressers tries to protect players but he hurts players in the process and I understand why because he knows committed players are watching and prospects are watching and other coaches may be watching . There are 3 types of fans
The nuts who know nothing
The nuts who played and know a lot
And the ones smart enough to know they don’t know and I only know be use I know that I know that I said I know . Nobody makes me bleed my own blood :p

3 WR, 1 TE running patterns leaving 5 OL plus the RB is considered "max protection"? We should probably re-think that definition.

the hardest part of trying to review plays especially with the lack of quality views is the intent of the play. The one described above is an example of what you see at the low level vs what the play was supposed to lead to, which is actually pretty clear if you watch the WR releases.

That was actually a good article. The play might be designed to go to A but given the D Being shown one would need to improvise and look to another option. All four of those plays Tommy had options other than a sack. That is his issue.

An incomplete pass is better than a 7 yard loss and taking a hit. Eli had an awful OL yet he was good at taking the 3-4 yard pass even if that wasn’t the play’s design and even if that meant failing to convert a first down. 4th and 5 is better for punting/field position than 4th and 15. It also will keep the QB healthy.

By Tommy holding the ball instead of throwing an incompletion he is hurting the team and physically hurting himself. Let the WRs fail. Let the play calling fail. Let the OL fail. We can understand a lack of talent or poor play design. We cannot understand why the QB fails too by being indecisive. Making no decision hurts more than making the occasional bad decision.

We all realize that you are TD's dad and we all like the fact that you are here giving us inside info that you hear about the team. I understand why you stand up for you son however, to NEVER make a statement about the issues that are no doubt on Tommy just makes me read your post as "finger pointing".

I sincerely wonder if tempo/scheme has become less of advantage. Tweets quoted in the Nunes article:

Most teams run tempo now so it really isn’t all that unique. Also we have not run tempo since 2017. I am still waiting for a game under Babers where we go nearly as fast as Wake did in the Dome back in 2017. What we run really has never been all that fast.

I just explained the entire play in detail you don’t get it

Wow...the grades on pass protection. Servais and Bergeron were supposed to be strengths. Maybes the Nunes site needs an article just on that. What’s going on with those two??
They should flip sides

Tempo has always been the single aspect of HCDB offense that I liked and thought effective. I've never understood the passing schemes (specifically the route trees) or the running package(s).

So...since we currently don't have a QB capable of running "tempo", why not adjust and run some more traditional sets? No sense insisting to force a square peg into a round hole.

So In film when he OC tells him he is correct he actually isn’t because u think otherwise?
Lol . I’m learning I can’t even explain plays that I get right from the horses mouth without getting armchaired to death

I certainly get it. It was designed as a wheel route. Just waiting for the play design to develop doesn’t take into account what the D is doing. This isn’t a 7 on 7 drill.

I will make it easy for you. Had Tommy thrown the ball into the flat most likely it is an incomplete pass as Benson wouldn’t be expecting the ball and likely is turning upfield at that point. Can we both agree with that?

What you and certainly Tommy does not get is that the incomplete pass is better than taking a sack and a big hit. Are you really trying to argue that a 10 yard loss on first and 10 is the better option?

Tommy needs to understand the limitations of the OL and the defense being shown.

Play 1 he had options. Maybe his primary isn’t there but it is his job to recognize that.

Play 2 is a dumb play design. One of the slots should be an option underneath. A 6 yard pass on 3rd and 13 gives us a small chance of making a play. That being said you can tell prep snap that the only place to throw the ball given the D (whether it be cover 1 or cover 3) is an outside shoulder throw to the bottom WR. That is the only possible positive play and Tommy is looking the other way.

Play 4 is a 4th down and the RB is in the flat for what would have been a first down. He needs to recognize that even if that is option #4 on the play. These are things he should be able to diagnose prep snap yet after snap he is still missing it.

You are using biased second hand knowledge. If the OC said a 10 yard loss is better than throwing it away, we have a moron as our OV.

I added scheme, for a reason. If the basic offense is simple, and there are more answers for tempo? Then you're left with a simple offense that is easier to defend.

Genuinely curious if that is a big factor in our current struggles?

I get what you're saying but, according To Dino, this is a complex offense that takes time to learn. Especially since all involved need to read coverages at the LOS...a bunch of moving parts need to be on the same page.
