Great Breweries

Can’t believe I haven’t started this earlier.

Had a very nice time at Engine 14 Brewery in Naples, NY this afternoon. Their double IPA Conflagration was mighty tasty and drinkable.
I gave the Tree House on South Broadway in Saratoga a full shot with a bunch of people after only visiting it prior with a very short visit.

I will say that I am very impressed with not only their beer selection, but also their selections of spirits and canned cocktails. I hadn't realized the large selection of products they offer besides beer.

It would be a perfect place to kick back in one of their many adirondack chairs in front of one of their firepits and watch some football in the fall. Unfortunately, like some other brewpubs, they don't believe in TV's for viewing. I guess they know what works for them, and although I disagree, I respect their business model.

It's also a great place for dogs and kids, with a huge open space for a back yard.

EDIT: Curious if your brewery sold Grape Pie and if they had a beer pairing recommendation for it.

Negative on the pie. But there was a vineyard right next door that I’ve heard has really bad wine.

I’ve been to the Tree House on the Cape. Beautiful spot and the beer is delicious but I think I like the smaller places better. Don’t feel like just a number to them.

I visited Trillium Brewery in Canton, MA over the summer. Giant place. But it felt a bit impersonal. Beautiful though and the beer is fantastic.

We hit a couple this weekend in the lake George area. Had dinner last night at 163 Taproom in the village. I can’t actually remember if they brew their own, but it was late and we did 45 miles on bikes earlier that day so everything tasted great. Today we hit Bolton Landing Brewing Company and they had a few of their own on tap as well as some outsiders. I had the Paradox Brewing DIPA and it was great.

If you like small places, next time you are in Syracuse stop at the new Aurora Brewing Company in Tipp Hill. Good selection of beer and some great food. I had the BLAT (Bacon, Lettuce, Avocado, and Tomato sandwich with a Loaded Salt Potato Skillet, which I intended on eating the next day, but I ended up eating half of it with my sandwich.

Aurora’s original location in King Ferry is well worth the drive from Syracuse. Beer Tree, Prison City, Ubl and Onco are all excellent as well.
