we all have our faves & hated. some for years, some we've come to know over the brief course of our new ACC chapter.

over the last few days I've come to understand that LSU fans are cool by me and CMU fans (at least those on the interweb) are delusional deflectionist homers.

the last couple of years have taught me that Clemson fans act way too entitled, Hoosier fans should keep their clothes on, GTown fans will always be lower than whale shizzle on the bottome of the ocean, and those FSU cats are alright.

What are your current thoughts about our new and old frenemies? how has it changed since the ACC jump?

I like the southern fan bases and they are happy to let us northerners have basketball but if we ever regain our footing in CFB, I surmise that they won't be so chill.

Right now they can be our bros because we pose no threat and we're a well known school so it's a step up from beating down a mid-major but when we can talk ish back, it won't be all "aw shucks y'all".

LSU fans are full of themselves...kinda like Clemson Fans on Tabasco laced Steroids.

Some are pretty cool...but most throw out the Yankee slurs and think a fan base is only measured in the Fall.

I probably would be too if I was an Lsu fan, Rutgirls is the worst, their fans think they are Alabama. West Virginia fans are pretty bad too.

I think where you live also plays a role as to how you view fans. I've meet a bunch of really nice WVU fans and I really dislike everything Pittsburgh and dislike most of there fans. My basis with Pittsburgh steams from my dislike of there NFL and NHL teams.

I guess the Bottom-line is: most Internet based impressions on fans are skewed by the worst of the worst. I stopped posting over at TigerDroppings. I got tired of trying to answer questions about game day stuff and visiting the area as jerks on their board threw in Yankee slurs, bashed Syracuse (team and the city), and added other provincial based thoughts in the same thread. Generally the older LSU fans are respectful as they understand history and where Syracuse fits into the hostory of college football...it is the younger ones that have only seen Cuse post McNabb/Freeney.

In person I've never been to WVU but I have run into the most jerks at UConn. Even more than Rutgers.

Nicest fans you could ever interact with out in the parking lot before the game, but rabid in the stadium.
Not in my experience. My trip there (WV) was the worst experience related to opponent fans that I ever had. From the time we parked our car until the game was over... the worst. Walking by tailgates of people spewing the raunchiest of insults. Non-stop. Sucked.

This is simple for me. Both of these fanbases bathe in pigshit and enjoy a fine bath salt cocktail.

we have the largest baseball fan base in the country, so you just showed your lack of knowledge

you need to keep in mind that tigerdroppings is one of the 3 largest NCAA football fan sites on the internet, so there will be more bad apples simply due to the fact that there are that many more posters there than most sites

Terrible "humans:"
WVU fans
UConn fans (usually)
Rutgers fans (if you can find them)
PSU fans
Georgetown fans
St. John's fans - they are beyond having an inferiority complex
JHU fans - that school's existence offends me
Kentucky fans
NCSU fans - I can't stand the shameless rednecks
Clemson fans - You would think that they were Alabama listening to their fans. They *might* be a top 20 all time program. Get over yourselves.
FSU fans (~ half of the time)
Dartmouth fans - interact with one and you will immediately understand why
Harvard fans - they're like Dartmouth fans, but smarter and slightly richer.
Texas A&M fans - aka the mouth breathers
[]_[] fans - back when they were the []_[]. I also loved these guys. They were the team that you could love to hate.

Fans I don't really like:
Those guys who hate ND. I really don't care about ND one way or the other, and I am really sick of people talking about the Irish.
USC fans
USCarolina fans - You aren't the real USC. Change your school's initials.
Oregon fans
OU fans - I like Oklahoma State
Ohio State fans - this is pretty self-explanatory
Minnesota fans - they like a cruddy school and are somehow arrogant. I genuinely don't get it.
Texas Tech fans
Tennessee fans (but there are a LOT of exceptions to this one)
Penn fans
UNC fans - there are too many band wagon fans
Alabama fans - there are too many band wagon fans
Wake fans - if you can find them
ECU fans - you aren't getting into the SEC. Get over it.

Fan bases that I like:
Syracuse fans - obviously
BC fans - I've always respected BC, especially since UConn hates them. And, I've had overwhelmingly positive interactions from their fans.
Pitt fans - I respect Pitt, and I'm OK with anyone who hates WVU and PSU. Also, I've had overwhelmingly positive interactions with their fans.
UMD fans - I know most people despise the Terps, but I'm good friends with a lot of UMD grads, so I'm biased
Cornell fans - Most are also Syracuse fans
Vanderbilt fans - Anybody that was willing to stick with the 'Dores through the 90's is a real fan
UCLA fans - I just like UCLA, and their fans are passionate but relaxed
UW fans - I just like UW, and their fans are passionate but relaxed
Tulane fans - If you can find them
Rice fans - I just like Rice and the people at Rice (and yes, I know Tulane and Rice are nominally rivals)
Florida fans - Anybody who annoys Tennessee fans to no end is good in my book, and I know a lot of them
Wofford fans - Who can hate someone that likes Wofford
Furman fans - Yes, I know Wofford and Furman are rivals, but I LOVE that rivalry
Marquette fans - I always respected Marquette and Milwaukee is amazing
UWisc - Yes, I know that they're rivals with Marquette, but I'm not really a Marquette fans per say (I just respect them), so I can overlook the rivalry. Madison fans are a ton of fun. They're actually very, very similar to SU fans. In fact, Wisconsin in general is more or less a mirror of New York.
Ole Miss fans - I don't really like the school, but the fans are a TON of fun
Louisville fans - they are great
Cincinnati fans - They are also generally great
LSU fans - I love the state and everyone in it. I was actually in Nola when LSU beat OSU in the NCG back in ~'07. It was fantastic.
[]_[] fans - back when they were the []_[]. I also loved these guys. They were the team that you could love to hate.

West Virginia fans= toothless drunk rednecks

Rutgers fans= Reality television stars who have a sense of entitlement even though they have done NOTHING to give them the right to act that way

Clemson fans I met 2 years ago were all cool. Although they mocked out "tailgating scene"

Florida state fans I met...see Clemson fans above

Those are the only fan bases that have stood out to me.

It's easy to get along with fans when their teams aren't that good, once the team is top 10 arrogance starts creeping in and just about any fan base is obnoxious.
Louisville fans are pretty cool. I also like Pitt and Duke fans.
Good or bad, I hate Penn State fans - the way they defend Joe Pa is gross and it's not just internet posters.
The worst SEC fan base is Ole Miss, they dress and act like they're Ivy league elites when in fact they went to a trashy, racist school. Now that they're a top 10 team, they're probably going to be the most insufferable fan base in America.

BINGO!

in actuality, they are in the bottom 2 in academics in the SEC along with MSU. Ole Miss is everyone in the south's backup school when applying for college.

Hmmm--I've been to multiple road games in Morgantown, and have had the opposite experience as what you're describing each time. In fact, the last time some hillbilly DID actually call something out at us from one of the tailgaits, and the guy who was running the tailgait felt bad, invited us over, gave us some food / beer, etc.

WV fans are actually quite knowledgeable about football, but my experience is that they leave it in the stadium. Now, inside the stadium is another matter. They foam at the mouth, curse Marvin Graves, etc. But oustide the arena I've found them to be quite hospitable.
