Great story brewing at US Open

Casey Martin leading the field at the Oregon sectional qualifier with 6 holes to play. Only two spots available. Will probably have to finish Tuesday morning.

In a race to finish before dark, Casey bogeys 16 and 17, then holes a five-footer on 18 to win by 1 and avoid a playoff.

He's the current coach at Oregon and hasn't played in over a week, as the NCAA tourney just ended. He finished 1 shot ahead of one of his just graduated players.

Also, his only prior U.S. Open was in 1998, which was also at Olympic.

This is a great story which will surely get a lot of publicity next week.
