Greg Fahey: New GM

I know nothing about this guy and the hiring leads me to think that Gerry doesn’t prioritize the “GM” role.

But I’m sure I’ll be told this is an amazing hire because the guy has work ethic and culture and blue collar and other such intangible things. ;)

Watching some of what he has to say sounds like a smart business mind and the ability to connect. A Jersey kid who seems bright and entrepreneurial and has a bit of a silver tongue in that regard.

As we all get older and less cool, it’s a different generation that now is better a connecting with this age group…

I sense some bitterness. Yeah no obvious NBA connections, though seems very connected in the northeast and the DMV. They seemed to have handled the portal pretty well without a GM this cycle. Still need one, but I think this entire staff will be involved deeply in evaluation anyway.

They don't need it but Gerry said that there would be some NBA experience with his staff, and people speculated that the GM might have that experience.

He definitely said that. A pivot is ok here in the spirit of another assistant, recruiter and someone with overseas connections.

I think GMAC should apologize lol. Just turn the program around the right way. Simple.

Multiple of my friends played for this guy on city rocks and also as someone who had a close connection to a high up Siena administrator when this guy was there, I can confidently say this is a good move. I don’t know him personally but I can tell you someone I trust implicitly does.

He’s a good dude first of all, very personable and a good communicator. By all accounts he was a great dude in the Siena program.

As far as a basketball mind, he is a great assistant to have and a good talent evaluator. Knows his stuff NIL wise, and is very smart with budgeting and making dollars stretch in terms of budgeting.

Obviously Gerry will always have final say in roster moves and resource allocation, but I can tell you this guy is a hard worker and someone who takes pride in finding gems. I would guess he will be brought in to find some under the radar prospects in the coming years. I really like the hire, and am confident in saying the program is going in a great direction.

Why does the GM need an NBA connection? Are any of the Knicks and Lakers in the portal?
I thought the NBA connection was a way to rationalize Hop getting the job. Have no idea how NBA experience would help. Cap issues are not the same.
