I thought the NBA connection was a way to rationalize Hop getting the job. Have no idea how NBA experience would help. Cap issues are not the same.

Doubt we could offer enough $ to match what he could make elsewhere. He and his family’s blood has probably thinned out in the warmer climates too.

Gerry also said he wanted his GM to have high school and recruiting connections. It appears this guy has them.

I would argue the connections to overseas and the high school circuit are 10X more important than NBA connections. Even though high school recruits aren't as critical... now it's almost more important to build the relationship while they are in high school so you can get them in the portal once they have a resume and you know their true valuation. From a moneyball perspective, this seems like the perfect background for the role, setting aside the person themselves.

Announcements about new hires always share the background/resume. What else should it include?

Considering the quality of the two international prospects that committed without this GM I'm not too worried about that avenue.
