I don’t think the second swipe did anything. Caruso was already horizontal and the fall was going to happen. The second hand barely made forcible contact and changed nothing. Bang bang play, move on.

The second motion pushed him to the ground faster than he could react to buffer the fall. It was totally unnecessary and clearly just an over aggressive foul to toss him away from getting a basket.

Reputation matters here a lot too. If it's a first time thing not a guy with a history no big deal. You can see him trying to discard)escort Caruso out of bounds.

Maybe more careless than vindictive sure. Still a trashy move and deserving of more than 1 game as a repeat offender.
