Productive, yes… I’m not positive on talented. But he’s a STUD!
Agreed. God-given talent, Johnnie Morant and (pre-injury) Delone Carter come to mind as being a bit above Tucker (Mike Williams and Custis are also in the conversation), but no question as far as productivity is concerned.

Good call on Mike Williams. He’s very high up also. It’s a shame we didn’t get to enjoy his full abilities for longer.

We have had great running backs, but they all had weaknesses. Reyes, Mungro and Carter didn’t have big-time breakaway speed the way Tucker does.

Sean Tucker is the most talented SU offensive player since McNabb. I thought about that carefully and I know he’s very young, but I don’t think that’s an overstatement.
Not an overstatement at all. I have been of this opinion since early this year. He’s special.

Not to pick on Dontae Strickland, but early in Dino's tenure I felt like he would hit the hole with the ferociousness of a puppy jumping on a pile of towels in a fabric softener commercial. Tucker is just the total opposite of that. He runs angry which is the best compliment you can give a running back. I can't believe we get a few more years of this guy (fingers crossed).

Just watch the replay of the TD run and you get a sense of how special he is. Breakaway speed and ox-like strength but patience at the line waiting for a hole to open. No blasting full steam ahead with your head down. Instead of a 4-yard run, it becomes a 50-yard TD. He maximizes every running attempt. Even in the open field he slows down for his blockers to get as much yardage as possible. I'm trying to think of guys we've had recently with athletic talent close to his but never really figured out the other stuff that goes along with being a great RB. Strickland comes to mind. Great athlete. No vision.

Wow beat me to the punch.

Delone Carter was NFL superstar talented - the fact that he even came back from that injury is incredible. Same injury that ruined Bo’s career.
He was from around where I live in NE OH. He’s a legend around that area, rightfully so.

I'd actually say Reyes may have had just a sliver more. I think he may have had more top end speed.

I also think Delone Carter may have been right there too. Different style but man was he good. Stuck with GRob at first and then the hip injury people weren't sure he could come back from. Who knows what he may have done on this kind of team and/or what he may have lost from the hip injury?

I love Tucker though. Great talent. Hard worker. Humble. Likeable. Great great player. I'm glad we'll get to see him for at least one more year.

I disagree on Reyes having less breakaway speed than Tucker. One reason he has the top two rushing TD seasons in SU history is because he wasn't caught from behind.

I could be misremembering this and definitely won't be offended if anyone disagrees, but I always remember Reyes seeming super fast and nimble on the Dome turf but kind of slower and clunky on natural grass on the road.

Agreed. Reyes is forgotten because he separated his shoulder and couldn't complete his senior season. Otherwise, he would have rewritten the record books. That kid was NFL good, and a shoulder separation cost him a professional career.

Too bad.

I can't say I remember if there was a difference. I just remember him running against stacked boxes because we couldn't throw and everyone knew it (I believe that was around the time that a BC coach said they knew almost everything we were going to run before we ran it when they beat us one time). He would break a tackle at the LOS and was gone.

Mike Williams was the most talented offensive player we have had since McNabb, but Sean is not far behind and unlike Mike has a great head on his shoulders. Add it all up and Sean is the man. Give him 44 dammit

Probably.

If we don't give him 44 I am going to find another team to root for.
