One of my favorite pictures of all time! And thank you to our men and women in the armed services! Happy 4th of July everyone! I'm having a great 4th of July weekend right now. Kicking back with some mango rum. Just got back from the pool with the kids.

I know you love it, because it was your avatar! I was going to say I missed it but realized I like your current one better, and I think it has helped evolve you into a fan favorite(vs when you had one from that creepy dystopian movie! ;) ).

I always got a kick out of this picture because they are all looking in different directions, and absolutely raging! Speaking of which, wouldnt this be the perfect avatar for Rage4Cuse?

As for the pool and the kids, is that a reference to dropping them off at the pool after some rum? ;)

It took me a bit to figure out how the photo related to the 4th... but... very recently the country we beat for independence celebrated it's own. Congrats UK for growing a pair faster than Greece, etc. Like Colorado and Washington, sometimes it's hard being alone/the first. I understand this and salute you, and think you deserve more recognition now than some archaic thing that has degraded into little(if anything) more than fireworks(if that), beer, and a day off for those working for the man(like most holidays, unfortunately).

First of all, I loved that movie. I understand rage makes you happy. The kids coming out of the pool I call my unconsciousness have nothing to do with the rum I was drinking. She was wrapped in the flag, that worked for me. Growing a pair, the Washington monument, salute me, you scare me mostly. Yeah, I'm a little old. But "archaic" and "degraded" ? Thank God for the fireworks and beer. Holidays make me sad too. I am the man.

Happy July 4th even though your mind is just as bad if not worse than the source of my dystopian dreams, I salute you too!

, I dont know if I should salute you back or if this post makes me sadder than all of the posts of mine that were deleted in the last 20 minutes. I think they would have made you see me in a different light.

PS I wanted to like that movie! The premise sounded great, and being I come here you should know I enjoy dystopian theater. For whatever reason, it just didnt do it for me. Maybe I will have to watch it again. I'm surprised your not more grateful that someone with my memory recalls your succession of avatars! ;)

Dave, happy 4th right back at ya! For all the political bickering and polarization this is still the greatest country in the history of the planet and we are all so fortunate to be Americans. It's also great to know that our College Basketball team of choice is poised to have an outstanding season in spite of the sanctions which were levied against it by the NCAA. Against considerable odds we might well be headed towards destiny on April 3rd 2017 in Phoenix Az!

I dont know how to do that line crossing out thing and saying "fixed it for you", but if I did I would change "is still the greatest" to "was the greatest"(apparently someone is getting an early start on the bottle, or something else, today!!). I understand most Americans have little understanding of the rest of the world and certainly haven't lived there, but I think most who have studied history(even the last decade's worth) can see that we have lost many of the liberties we were born with, and our founding fathers sought to protect when they drafted the Constitution. Yes, censorship(the 1st Amendment) was obviously the one given the most respect, although in private arenas it is duly noted it can be p1$$ed upon, and routinely is.

Instead of shooting off fireworks, skipping work, stuffing your already fat faces, and getting sh1tfaced, it might behoove Americans to instead actually emulate the true patriots that fought to give us liberty, rather than letting them slip away while we pleasure ourselves with drugs(alcohol, etc) like in Huxley's Brave New World, or with needless distractions like sports like in the Roman Empire, as noted beautifully in Gladiator.

Seriously, do you think our founding fathers would enjoy your picnics and drunken debauchery in "their" honor while the Constitution is shat upon repeatedly, or would they see your attempts to speak up for it as more honorable, even if the forces of evil work to silence, ostracize, and punish you? I don't bet often, but I'll go with the latter. Even though this is on topic, it's not a feel good syracuse.com article, and makes important points, so after this morning I suppose I'd better check on it to make sure it doesnt receive the firing squad like many of my other posts. Sadly, many Americans fear actual liberty because it means taking responsibility. A few of you might recall that a good portion of Americans sided with the British during that war.

Anyhow, happy "4th". ****ing Craig gets his own holiday? What's it about again? If youre offended, maybe it's for a reason. I sure as bleep don't write these posts for popularity. If I wanted that, I'd be another sheep/bot/clone and say the typical, meaningless, generic BS. The pen(keyboard) is mightier than the sword. True patriots arent necessarily killing brown skinned children with drones in the name of democracy(we have a republic, by the way), but actually are more concerned with the dissipating liberty in our own backyard.

“All It Takes for Evil to Triumph Is for a Good Man to Do Nothing.” Not on my watch.
