I would've guessed it was older and am drawing a blank about the previous years.
I recall when I first "discovered" that people talked about syracuse hoops on the internet, it had to be around 94 since I recall being out of college and poor and worried about how much it would cost to dial in and stay on too long. Before then, one of my fraternity bro's dad was involved with AAU (though I think he just coached his son's HS team, not sure if AAU) and used to have these monthly magazines about recruiting and he used to send them up when he finished reading. I recall one of them talking about Marbury when he was a frosh in HS and how Syr was on the radar. So, when I first went online, that one guy's website focused on Marbury's recruiting, I was hooked!
There were the AOL boards and another Cuse website that someone ran that talked about Cuse recruiting. I wonder if that guy is a poster here? I remember being amazed that you didn't have to wait a month to get a recruiting story in the paper. On AOL, I remember my wife (gf at time) looking and saying "IthacaMatt" is on all of these posts, does everyone has their town in front? I remember others for different reasons, Bees because he was the first 'insider' guy, Igor (was Bonn, would get kicked off, come back as Bonn1, then Bonn2, etc) because he was so negative and challenged others to fight, Cherie because she had the name cheriehoop and I realized there were women die-hards and she tried to play peace maker, etc. I remember Bees introducing PeteCalvin as a die-hard fine, too, but don't recall when and where Jake came from, or if Joyce was around pre-Syr.fan
I think everyone used syracuse.com after AOL but I don't think it was the entire time between AOL and Syr.fan? Was there anything else??
Anyway, this site makes me less-productive, so I'm not so sure I should really thank anyone. Seriously, however, thanks to all...
