...if we expect to keep winning, we really need to get our kicking game in order. I would love for us to win 54-0 on a regular basis, but I'm pretty sure we're going to be in for much closer contests as the season progresses. As has been discussed, Krautman has regressed from year to year. I'm thinking (hoping) his injury is to blame for his performance this year. If he's unable to get back to form, Norton needs to really step up. It's easy to forget a missed PAT and a pretty horrific missed FG in a blowout win. But, if that stuff happens against NC State, Maryland, Pitt, etc...it may cost us a win & we'll be talking about it a lot more than we'd like to. I'm going to stay positive and believe Ross gets back to where he was and we'll be fine from here on out. Some of these games could come down to his leg, and we need it to be at the level he's capable of.

The kicking game will be an issue that we will have throughout the year. Ross is hurt as Coach Schafer noted and if you read between the lines its not something he is going to bounce back from and be good to go next week. We are going to have to live with Norton and hope he can work some of the kinks out. At this point it would be to the staff's advantage to bring in another kicker for next year if for only depth purposes.

One thing I've considered, due to our kicking woes, is if perhaps we need to change the holder? Perhaps Charlie isn't getting the ball spotted properly although I hope that isn't the case.
