Harvard Gameday...

Luke Rhoa was really missed. Another goal scorer out there - nine goals in the first four games, would've cleaned up with all the FO wins.
 
Such a deflating loss. Two weeks in row now our 2nd half performances have been abysmal to say the least...2 goals against the Terps last week and 4 against Harvard. At least the argument, or should I say EXCUSE, last week was the poor weather, Maryland's known for stout D, first road game, and of course, their top notch head coach.

This week, there's absolutely no EXCUSES that have any merit whatsoever, period! Harvard gave up 19 goals to Colgate just 4 days ago for Pete's sake. This team displays a wildly undisciplined style of display, etc. and it all stems from the top that enables it. :mad::mad::mad:
 
Leo not sure if he is hurt or if him being poled is diff. But he has totally been butt cheeks. Fairly so as much of the entire offense. Also goalie is real concern as they just arnt making saves they should have all time let alone saves they have to steal. Think need to completely change things up now. Cause whatever doing isn’t working vs high talent or even med talent teams.

Ahhh this team makes me so mad. The 5 on 5 worked flawlessly first half yet barely tried it second half. What are march n gait doing. Also man down D needs overhaul cause they been burned badly last two games. They get to tight to low n would be fine if our goalies can make outside saves but don’t.
 
Sometimes a team is what its record says. This is a 3-2 team with a number of flaws. We were misled by the flashy 3-0 start. Coaching isn’t the issue.
 
Also on the english no goal tho doesn’t matter cuse deserve to lose the way they played. But on english no goal def seem to me was clear enough or could tell his foot was in goal mouth.

Coaching is 100% the issue, this is the same team from last year. Zero accountability with turnovers and sloppy play, a complete lack of I'm game adjustments and inability to get the personnel correct on the offensive end. This is on Gait
 
I don’t know any more man. Can’t believe this is a result that was even possible today with our day at the faceoff x. Can’t believe it. Gonna have to take a step back from this team unless we beat hop in the dome in two weeks, which is now close to must win.

My apologies to the Gait critics. I try to have faith and we have been improving every year on paper. But these complete lack of clutch factor endings and 4th quarter/late game collapses are so consistent under him that it has to be somewhat on his leadership. Yes it is somewhat on our top offensive players being inconsistent. But it has to stem from coaching on some level. Have to take a step back from how much of a fanatic I am for this team or my mental health will be in the toilet. Maybe he and the players can prove us wrong with a dub against hop and ND, but my confidence that will actually happen is rock bottom. Try and enjoy the sunshine y’all and for the love of god stay off twitter.

You have this delusional thought that SU is going to gain national prominence in lacrosse again. It’s not happening. Not under Gait or anyone else.
 
spallina n leo shot percent below 17% where harvards lowest shot percent guy was 25% think tho most of their scorers were 50% or better. This teams shooting is horrible they have no hustle or selling out for every play even small ones. They just don’t even know or have words to explain anymore

Ya the preseason #2 team who beat Hop UVA Duke and played ND the closest out of any ACC team last year definitely can't expect to attain national prominence again. Good God man

Spallina forces things and can be easily defended. Leo has been MIA the last two weeks. We don’t have any dodgers with the possible exception of English. A lot of talent, but a poorly constructed team on offense. Blame that on Gait. A lot of the players came here to play freestyle lacrosse under Gait. So you should expect some of the players to be undisciplined. If you want to see more discipline, you’ll need a different coach with a different style.

Is he fully recovered from injury? I thought he kept on getting hurt in high school. Is he ready to go?
 
and coach O needs to tell his guys need to be on guys hands. Gosh we give so much room letting the O player control where wants to go instead of where we want. On man down sageder would be 5feet from dude up top who had the ball n plenty of room to shoot.

Complete overhaul of this team needs to happen. Offense defense n goalie. Faceoffs only thing been consistent. Need to have these guys run n run n run n run make them most condition team in league. So when games on line n their tired they are use to it which def can clean of some sloppy play.

Need to get kellogg some runs to rip that shot of his. Need someone who can draw or force D out cause can snipe. Rhoa is one but need another. Put anderson on mid line if not attack for thompson. Tho not blaming thompson but the thompson/english two man game scored a lot or where english got a lot of his goals. Thompson is prob best pick guy on team. English had one goal off pick grant was from joey, but need that aspect back.

NO more excuses. This is a huge wake up call. The short term schedule is tough starting with travel to Utah and then Hopkins. I said last week that McCool didn't look sharp against MD. If Ippoliti is the answer, better to find out now than later. The scary part is that its probably much easier to fix the goaltending than it is to fix the mental problems, lack of poise and clutch play and what appears to be bad coaching.

Let's hope that Harvard continues to play well and makes our loss look better. But...it is hard to see this team being in the final 4 when they are so soft.

Forget the final four this team will be lucky to make the tournament. Hard to see them besting Hop or Cornell or UNC at this point and Gates offense with that 10 man is gonna give SU and absolute nightmare. Towson is also now 0-4, this is a game they had to have.
 
This may be the worst loss in years (worse than ND blowouts) - considering we:
1) lost at home
2) to a non-elite Ivy
3) who was on a short week
3) after being blown out by Colgate
4) we're coming off a tough road loss to an elite team
5) and we won 28-32 faceoffs

Hats off to Mullen, English, Thomson, Figueiras and Ippoliti. If Ippoliti started the game we would've won despite playing terribly - and that is 110% on Gait. Coaches that put seniority, players who have "paid their dues", and how many stars they have ahead of the team is inexcusable.

Ippoliti SCREAMING at his defense after that blown coverage (I don't know anything about lax X's and Os for the record) is exactly why he needs to be starting.
