Harvard Gameday...

I had this team going either 11-4 or 12-3 looking at the schedule before the season, all my projections included a loss today. Just never had a good feeling about it.
This is true, before Maryland I was hoping we would be 2-1 at this point, and scared it might be 1-2, we are 2-1 at this point.

You could say that at their absolute worst they still lost by 1 in the last minute on the road to a ranked team. But under Gait he has shown no ability to course correct.

I will urge the same thing here that I did to my fellow Blue Jays last night (it's been a tough weekend for me lol). It's a loss. It happens. This team was not going to go undefeated with this schedule.

That this loss happened as the immediate follow up to one of their best performances in years and getting the number 1 ranking certainly stings, and the frustration is real. That is happened in a way so reminiscent of their losses a year ago is certainly worrisome.

But it's February and it's one game. Plenty of season left. Need to learn from it and get better. Hopefully fuels the fire the rest of the way. Next weekend is a huge opportunity. This team is a playoff team and will have every opportunity to play for a national championship. This is how champions are made - but the team (and coaches) needs to come together and put in the work to improve.

On to Princeton!

It doesn't end our season, but if they're going to keep making the same mistakes that have cost them for 5 years it's hard to assume they won't again.
I mean, if your contention is that they made a ton of boneheaded mistakes today, I'd say that speaks well of their chances. Because even with all those mistakes, they lost by 1 goal on the road to a legit Harvard team. The field is wide open and I still don't see any reason to believe this team isn't on the short list of title contenders.

People are acting like they got blown out by a mid major. Surely after seeing how Harvard matched up last year, this result couldn't have been a complete surprise. The Crimson are legit.

Just tired of seeing them make the same mistakes that cost them the same type of games they were losing 2-3 seasons ago. It’s jmo but Gait isn’t it, would love to be proven wrong, but when?

I think thats the biggest concern. Harvard js a very good team, no shame in losing but losing again because of the same dumb mistakes yet again is the issue. We just dont seem capable of fixing the issue or learning from it. A bad offsides cost. Gait vs Albany in year 1 and again now in year 5.

The most unfortunate part of this game and the things that are going to cost them…

SSDM play
Bad clearing (Offsides specifically)
Stupid decision making

These 3 things have been the biggest issues of the Gait era and they do not appear to be fixable. It’s year 5. Their senior “leaders” are often the biggest culprit of the bad decision making. Discipline starts from the top. This program does not have it with this group
I just can’t overstate this enough.

Also going back and seeing that Harvard got 3 goals combined from Spidell, Ip, and Malone is a bad sign for Cuse. Means our SSDMs and McCool got exposed by relatively unknown offensive commodities. Palumbo and Princeton’s midfield are gonna feast next week

But also before we start claiming next week is over, Princeton lost by 6 to a team with losses to Villanova and Navy
Princeton beat Maryland on the road.

I’ll stand by this: Mullen was 13-24 (barely above 50 percent) at the X today. If that happens in a big game later in the season, SU will suffer.

SU has to get him some help, cant expect him to be north of 60% week in and week out. Wing play had been atrocious and Angelo worse.
Wing play bad under GG? Check.
No real backup for FOGO? Check.
Same mistakes over and over? Check.

I don't necessarily want him fired, but there are things he needs to fix, and they don't seem to get fixed.

That's my biggest issue with Gait. I think hes a good coach but the same mistakes keep happening over and over and over. At some point you gotta acknowledge that he cant correct these issues. What's worse is he acknowledged the issue in this week's pressure with clears and the Harvard ride and still it was an issue. The offsides im completely over its been a nightmare since year 1 and has never been corrected. It needs to be called out this week by the media
