Has anyone seen Benny's lost game?

I feel bad for the kid and still in shock that coach put him in the game to try to block out one of the best power forwards in the country who is much stronger than Benny. The kid was so deflated walking back to the bench. I expected Frank or even the feisty Ajak to go in. It was good for Benny that he was later reinserted in the game and we ultimately won. Something like that might push him to hit the weights.

How did this guy get such a high recruiting ranking? He appears to have no offensive game or skills at all. No rebounding ability.
He's as raw a freshman as I can remember. The expectations were obviously way too high. If we had any options on the bench in a normal year he wouldn't be seeing any PT. Have to hope he improves as the season progresses.
It looks like he's afraid to take shots away from Jimmy, Buddy and Joe? He looks extremely frustrated.

Is the new way of blaming coach (nepotism) for everything? Benny has done virtually ZERO to deserve a single minute of playing time. But, we can't say he's been Boeheimed because he is getting minutes. So now we have to say that he's terrible because he is so terrified of "taking shots away" from BB, JB3, JG3? It's just to the point of absurdity now. Not only because of how illogical that is, but also because there is basically no way anyone could limit those guys shots, they all 3 are chucking shots at a massive rate regardless of who is on the floor.

I believe in his potential but just based on how we've been spurned in the past, I'm nervous he could be a transfer at the end of the year and we'll miss out on that potential. Hopefully he's wired differently from some of the guys we've had recently but he's obviously had a pretty short leash thus far and has struggled immensely.

I don't think he is transferring - he's being given a great chance and right now he is just not a very good basketball player - his best plays seem to be blind side blocks from our zone - Rak was a higher recruit and we really never saw much until his last year - sucks because we can't continue to put two Boeheims, Joe and Cole on the court at the same time

Steak on the grill is so much better than throwing it in the microwave.

This kid is going to be good. We’ve become so used to instant success situations. This kid, by end of year, but certainly next year, is going to be a gamer.

Kids at this age can be Motens (underrated, instant success), Melos (no definition required) or - gasp - college kids who need to develop.

Excited for his future. Thankfully we have a Cornell kid grinding his way to provide a gap year.

I’d like them all to be Melos.

See what you can do to make that happen.

(Thanks in advance).

he isnt really included in the offense. well, there isnt really an offense.

so when he gets the ball...its like a special occasion for him. and he either needs to dribble through the entire opposing 5 or just pass it to a teammate. there are rarely any possessions where he touches the ball more than once...so if he passes it, means he wont shoot at all that possession...and since he rarely gets passed the ball...its a catch 22.

he is a very good passer...but dosnt really get to show it much. the team could really use his passing imo.

ways he can be used better in the offense -

1- offensive boards and put backs...needs to find a way to hit the boards harder and get some offensive rebounds

2 - alley oops...this team used to kill teams with alley oops and he can finish them! run some backdoor lobs for benny!

3 - as a post up passer - they tried this one game in atlantis actually and it didnt work that well...but I think he is a very good passer...just needs to get more touches, imo

4 - design some plays for him.

I think it really comes down to too many mouth to feed and he is low on the pecking order. its hard for him to know how to fit in to the team and he is deferring and likely in his own head about everything..wanting to do more. good play will come when he isnt self conscious out there and just knows what to do without thinking...needs minutes and coaching. the team needs him ...so gotta just keep putting him out there and hope it clicks.

he is very talented and it will click at some point. 100%

Would love to see Benny packing our zone in uptop on Jimmy side for a few minutes against Lehigh and Cornell. Maybe around the 12-minute mark. Buddy Jimmy and Cole can bring the ball down the floor.

Heck while were at it rest Cole+Buddy one at a time around the 8 minute mark, Then go 3 guards with Buddy and Joe off-ball motion around the 3+1/2-minute mark with Swider and see how much we can push the transition to end the half. Joe and Sy should be able to assist each other to the rim.

Someone please send JB this substitution pattern lol

We talked a little bit about Benny's struggles on today's. That bullrush from TJD could be the fork in the road for his season. We'll see which path he takes the rest of the way.

Here's today's show. Would love for you guys to check it out and subscribe!

I’d like to see Bennie up top in the half court 2-3 zone with Symir. Offense probably suffers unless they generate a lot of run out steals, which of course is why you’d try that lineup in the first place.

Joe, Bennie, Cole, Jimmy and Jesse is interesting to me.

what was the reason he took him out today? i thought his missed jumper looked much better than it has been. Did he blow ONE defensive assignment? Cause is that’s the case, jimmy should hardly play.

He was told to go in at one point but was too busy researching seton halls depth chart

To everybody knocking Benny, you don't get to say "I knew it all along" when he is killing it in January. He just needs to break through. It's going to be one those where he gets 2-3 dunks back to back in a game, a lightbulb goes off and he becomes a whole different player.
I think this is exactly how it will go down.

I hope Benny looks at Jesse abs Frank and sees the benefit of waiting a bit. In a close game like this, Jb can’t afford to waste possessions on someone who won’t make any impact. Benny needs to have something good happen for him… a dunk… three pointer… anything to get some positive vibes

He’s got to improve his body language. I get that it’s likely hard for him to come to grips with the fact he’s not ready at this level. I’m sure he’s always been the man at every level prior so this is difficult to process. He needs a good game over the next few weeks. But he also needs to remember defense and rebound is his primary job.

I feel for the kid and want him to improve but we are -42 per 100 possessions when he’s on the court. He’s unplayable.

That's an astoundingly bad number. Where do you find stats like that?

Some kids shrink after moments like that - but I’d bet JB is putting him in spots to know how much he needs to grow
