Hate to say the obvious but,

A bye, at home, against a team struggling, dinged up, QB issues, SU off 2 last minute losses. We need to be the team that rights the ship, logic says a team should not lose this many games in oct/nov as we have and this time we are not beat up like the last 2 yrs.

UNC has only scored 30+ one time, cant really throw, even if the D plays like crap we should be able to out score them.

Me want UNC to cry UNCle.
Stupid, but it's true

im more worried about the players being ready than dino

The players being prepared is entirely on the coaching staff’s preparation. These kids have been there before, its Dino’s job to have them ready to outmatch the University of North Carolina

Players have always been ready. The game plan and coaching decisions in some games the last two years hasn’t always displayed “being ready”

* let me clarify that by, the gameplanning has not been creative or dynamic in some games. Offense especially, the one side of the ball where I didn’t think we’d see tentative play calling or one dimensional. Running 3 times up the middle on our ~10 yard line at Pitt last week is a great example. We’ve seen that more the last two years during the end of year “slides”, more than we’ve seen players not be prepared.

its obvious play calling is conservative if dungey isnt playing well early

we didnt call 3 runs up the middle the QB did based on formation and D.

you do realize that we call very few plays, the Qb has options and then changes most of the calls based on what he sees. he is handing off most of the time because we have the numbers he wants for the play that have lined up. if they had 3 in the box and we ran and got stuffed that doesnt make it conservative thats just bad execution.

there are only certain times in the game that a straight run/pass is called and its under 50% of the time

If Dungey is passing well we win. If he struggles again it will be a grind

Wish it was that simple but there are more factors than that. ED needs , tbe offense needs some forward thinking in terms of play calling. UNCs pass D idn't great, but would like to see us establish some running success and run that RPO action off that. Not just bubbles or sideline fades but some vertical seem routes and digs over the middle. Vertical doesn't have to mean deep but its finding some recievers moving vertical instead of sideline momentum.

But YES, ED does need to step into throws, be crisp and make solid, smart reads and play for the betterment of the O instead of just looking to run players over and get in sports center. Run the O the way its supposed to be played, throw in rhythm, and make plays.

The team should come out full bore like they did in the first game. Only this time Babers won't pull a bonehead maneuver and call the team off which let the defense get exposed.

This game will be very close. UNC has some good running backs, and that's a problem.
3 backs with over 30 carries. Their leading rusher has 51 carries and averages 6.2 ypc, their second leading rusher averaging 8.6 ypc on 31 carries and their 3rd leading rusher is averaging a paltry 4 ypc on 36 carries. They go 5'11" 210 lbs, 5'9" 195, and 5'11" 200.
Anyone who thinks this is going to be a blowout, is just looking at the records.

I agree with this take. It will be clear how the game will go after a series or two. If we can’t stop the RBs - it’s going to be a tight game. If we bottle them up, we win comfortable.

I hope we beat them up. I was at the game the last time we played them. Triple overtime game. We won on a field goal. The fans were throwing some free bags of nachos that were placed in every seat at my friends and I. This is when I figured out that their fans were a bunch of whiny bit[hes.
