that is my major concern. we never ever looked completely over matched in every aspect under Marrone. I had all the confidence in the world in that staffs game planning. It's a big reason I wish Shafer stayed heavily involved with the defense. These blowouts are very troubling

Marrone's first year game planning was awesome as I recall (they should have sarcasm font). I am a big fan of Marrone but he didn't hit his stride in game planning until the middle of his 2nd year. This is a first year staff, settle down.

ya and did we ever get stomped out like we have 3 times so far this year? not to mention we had like 60 something scholarship players.

miles away? i think you have your binoculars backwards-
this is the 3rd game this year that could pass itself off as a Robinson game

We were out coached and out schemed today, it had nothing to do with talent, just a bad game plan by a 1st year staff. Gerg's teams were talentless and had not discipline, that is why they got schooled.

BTW - Just for reference, 1 game past midway this season we already have more wins than any 1 year with Robinson.

if thats the measuring stick we are in serious trouble

Really, we never got stomped?

We gave up 56 points to UCONN for Pete sakes.
We lost to PITT by 27
Cincinnati 28-7
Penn State 28-7

Not sure what season you were watching in 2009 but I consider all of the above, straight Whuppings.

Did I say it was the "mesuring stick" to judge any losses? You made the comparison, I am just telling you how wrong you are to make it.

None of those are as bad as the 3 we've endured at the freakin midway point of this guys first season.

Bad language? Seriously? I go out of my way not to use bad language...please provide proof. Maybe I slipped-up.

"Go the fluck away loser" is a bit rich. You know as well as anyone you can win a point without that.

I agree but keep in mind that none of those opponents were ranked in the top 25 like 2 of them were this year.

I'm just a fan and not a football expert by any means, but I really have no confidence in this coaching staff. I loved HCSS before the season started and I really believed that he would succeed here. Never in my wildest dreams would I think I would jump ship on him 7 games in, but I have. I just don't see anything that tells me there is something good here and that makes me real sad.

Now having said that, we simply cannot give him the same time we gave HCGR, but I worry by the time the powers that be realize it was a bad hire, we are going to be in the dark ages, again. And this time will take even longer to dig out of. :(

Edited to add: GTech is not 56 points more talented than our players, so who do I blame?

None of that is 56 zippy. 3 touchdowns is standard stuff.

sheeit they had us 28-0 at half man come on

ALL I am saying it that people should back off the ledge, put down the pitchforks. I am pretty sure that nothing we say on this board is going to make a difference one way or another.

Rant away. Are you really talking about getting rid of a coach after 1 year?

Please Einstein, what's your plan after that? Give another coach 6 games to prove himself? And if that one doesn't, give another coach 6 games, and another, and another until you get a coach that can go 6-0.

How many high profile, good coaches would take a job like that? Especially with not a short leash, but no leash.

How many high profile good recruits would commit to that type of program?

No coach in their right mind would do that. What's the plan, please tell?

Please show me where I ever said we should get rid of Shafer? All I said was he really needs to evaluate some of his staff. Comparisons were made to Marrone who I said his staffs were far more prepared, with much less. So my plan would be the same as I said in my first post in this thread. Use the rest of the season to evaluate your staff, and then make the necessary adjustments, but these results are absolutely not acceptable.

Even in Duke's dark years their worse loss was to FSU 56-7. This was a historically bad loss in our 3rd ACC game.

Today changes nothing IMO. This season is about getting to 6 wins. Let's see how things go before we all light the torches. Allen was the best hope for a food season and he stinks. Today's loss was embarrassing and it hurt. The most disturbing thing is the defensive plan. If I were Shafer I leave the offense to Lester and McDonald and concentrate on the defense. Let's see how Wake. A lot of people on here wanted to run Marrone out of town after the seven straight losses. No those people are crying to run Shaf out. If you are an overly emotional person give yourself a 24 TO after a crappy loss, it will keep you sane.

I think we should keep HCSS and fire and hire a new staff every year. Or maybe we fire half the staff this year, after evaluation of course (we want to give them a chance) give the remaining staff another year then fire them.

Good plan.

ya your plan sounds a little better. sit tight on a potential bad hire in the hope he catches on eventually.

Phil is right. Look at the way we have lose...this game is no surprise. The talent today was close, the score was not. Is anyone actually honestly in their hearts surprised???? Bc played Clemson tight. Nw is good but their talent is modestly better than ours. When the talent level is close we get destroyed and look stupid doing it.
