:( then the economy bottomed out. You have to strike while the fires hot because if you don't it can get mightly cold quick
Yup and rates will never be lower than they are today. Delaying costs many millions.

This thing was corrupt from the beginning and the Mayor sniffed this one out. The only thing left to do is to try to embarrass her as much as they could in public. Take off the stadium glasses here and for the ones who live out of state, you have no skin in this game.

These public/private ventures are all bullstuff.

If she was so powerful to single handedly stop it then why wasn't she deemed important enough to include from the beginning? I think after the Destiny and SU bookstore boondoggles that Miner had enough.

She showed us all while she wasn't included. She'd muck it all up...which she did.

There will not be a new stadium built in the city as long as Minor is Mayor, and no announcement will be coming, about plans to build a new Stadium will happen on her tenure. There is no reason for the Governor, or County Executive, to chance being put in the position again, of after working on something to have the Mayor mess it up.

Novice at the political game and I have a question. Does the mayor need to be on board? Is it possible to get a project of this size done without her support? If there is no financial drag on the city, can she (and would she dare if she could) to out and out erase the project if all other parties wanted to proceed? It would seem that if she had further political aspirations, she needs to tread very carefully on this...

When is her term up?

People overreacted from the beginning. the Post Standard (which is a flat out bad newspaper, it just is) reports this story of a "new stadium" one random Sunday. Everyone falls in love and expects a deal to be finalized within a week or two and groundbreaking within a year or so. New Stadium deals take years...I mean years to get passed. One side floated the story to the newspaper to get the public on their side, that's clear as day. That pisses off the other side (Stephanie Minor) and that's where you get the stalemate. It complicates issues that Minor and Cumo don't get along all that well if at all these days. Minor is in her last term, she doesn't want this headache on her desk in her final years. Cumo could be a running mate for Hilary and be in Washington within a few years. When both are about to leave their current positions that's when this stadium deal starts making progress. They will get the ball rolling and pass it off to the next poor saps.

There is no doubt in my mind that Syracuse will get an all-purpose retractable roof stadium. It will happen!! But it isn't going to happen/open till sometime between 2020-2025. Half a billion dollar deals don't get done overnight! It's takes years of back and forth and every side needs to come out looking like they got what they want. So both can go back to their camps and yell out "WE WON!" Make it seem like they got what they wanted all along, even though that might not be the case.

Then the roof on the carrier dome will have to be replaced before then, as it lasted 18 years when it was replaced in 1999. That makes the current one 15 years old. In 1999 it cost 20 million for anew roof. Now, there aren't any other blow up domes left , so a specialty company would have to fabricate it a many times the cost. So, it is now or never for a new stadium, otherwise SU will have to commit to updating the Dome.
