Heard this from an SU student regarding Fab (invalid final)

Unless I missed it, there seems to be a lot of speculation with the "class" doing wrong-doing of some kind - that is, a group issue. My concern, a few days after this story broke, was that I hoped that MELO didn't do anything wrong such as cheating or anything else that would put him in front of a judicial board at SU because I just couldn't come up with anything in my mind that would justify this kind of action except if he did something of the sort. I've actually seen first hand how that can go, even if you aren't in the wrong. At any rate, I'm hoping that my concern is unjustified. It isn't until now that I have chosen to speculate but due to the stuff being spewed on this thread, I figured what the hell... my spew might as well be tossed out there as well. ;)

What in the world is "an invalid final"?

Profs don't have to give finals at all if they so choose, correct? So how could anything they give be considered "invalid"?

Maybe alibrat or one of our other resident academics could chime in on this. I'm confused. And by "confused" I mean even more confused than I normally am.

Like what was mentioned, Dick; the final could have been comprised somehow.

If one or two students are caught cheating, they usually get a failing grade and are referred to the Dean. The other test-takers are not affected.

Or, the professor gave a final that didn't meet department standards in terms of rigor or content. If that were the case, the dumbshit prof should have been made ineligible, not Fab.

However, I have really never run across a case in which a final was deemed invalid.

So maybe I'm over-simplifying but it seems clear to me what is going on. Fab had to pass "x" credit hours in the fall semester to maintain satisfactory progress toward a degree and remain eligible under NCAA rules. The class in question would give him the necessary hours, but grades in the course have not yet been certified due to some type of irregularity. There is a high probability that Fab will pass the class once certified, so SU appealed to the NCAA for reinstatement pending closure. NCAA denied so we're waiting resolution to the class in question.

Pure speculation based on the posts and mainstream media sources I trust most but seems to make sense.

It's BS as that would indicate Fab did nothing wrong which is incorrect. Until yesterday his chance of return was known to be slim which does not coincide with the whole class just having to retake a test
Your source for this is what?
