Hell yeah!!!

Not good enough. It’s a loss. A loss that could have been a win with fundamentals…
A loss that would have been a loss if we assembled an all-star team of our best players since 2014 and gave them 6 years to prepare….

“Cuse is back” after a loss directly attributed to not being able to simply hit free throws. Free throws. As in FREE points. Yeah so back.

What a lame response.

“Well, we didn’t hit enough free throws even though this is the closest game I’ve witnessed with my own eyes against a decent team since Obama was President” is such a ‘hey, I’d like to bottom this thruple’ reply if I’ve ever seen one.

Since this is the positive thread can we talk about how JJ and Betsey were both 110%. Autry also said Donnie was not out for long. Not sure about that but we looked faster and steonger than we looked all season.

We are not going to win shooting 12 - 29 FT (that's 17 misses) 17 points - worse than the Monmouth game where we were 19-33 14 misses. This is a good team but we have to make our FT's. It negates all we do that's good.

what in the small-time program is this freaking title?
It’s the present reality.
Not sure I know how to react as if we are still in March 2003.

It’s great to maintain standards, but not finding something positive in this result is like being 80 with a fake tan and a hairpiece and a pornographic neck fold, with no power, fame, or money and thinking you can still pull models like you used to.

I can see how someone can be disappointed and angry. Not winning this game might come back to bite us on Selection Sunday. Especially one we loss because of poor FT shooting.

But there is lot of room for positive perspective. The fight, the result (without Freeman), and knowing the reason we loss (we might not be a good FT shooting team, but we aren't going 12-29) , should give us hope moving forward to conference play. And we might not need this game to get in. This team is far better than the last 2 years.

Let's take at least 1 of the next 2, and we can build off this.
I’d say this team is far better than the last four years. At least.

To me the positive perspective is that I can live with this being a moral victory, if this is the standard that we play with the rest of the year.

Time will tell.

If we can play with that effort all year, we'll be in every game and won't be sweating Selection Sunday. This was may first chance to watch them this year, and it was the most fun I've had watching them in a long time. Red needs to ban jab step and step back 3's, and get some more interior scoring, but the hounding defense was great.

It's not sad to express happiness when our Orange show significant progress - it's sensible. The reality is that we didn't fall out of the top-25 overnight nearly a decade ago, and we aren't going to get back in overnight either. Today was a step forward. It will take time and dedication to get back to the basketball program we once were. We might as well celebrate the small steps in the journey.

Forget the outcome of the game, I was looking for cues as to what we have here. The absolute biggest thing to me was this team played defense at a level I was not sure was possible with Autry as the coach. I was very concerned that no matter how good the talent, he couldn’t coach defense well enough to win. Tonight I felt like I saw a high energy defense that remained credible throughout the game. Yes there were a few errors but Houston had errors too and nobody questions their D. The second biggest thing was the sustained energy, agressiveness, and intensity the team showed which was another thing I have not seen Autry produce in his previous seasons. Both of these are very positive. The free throw shooting was an atrocity that the UN should be looking into. The fact that is extends to every player on the team is absolutely curious and does make me think we should fire Fran Brown and 2 Economics professors to be named later. Stay tuned on that part.

The other benefit is that we looked good to potential recruits and transfers.
Showing up in Vegas against a top team puts us in the spotlight and shows the next roster prospects that we're a valid and viable option. Again.
