I’ve always liked Herbie. I don’t really detect too much bias toward the B1G in his commentary

I respect Herbie's commentary most of the time; however, I have found his disrespect toward Cuse to be particularly biased over the years. Granted, we haven't done much to change perceptions but he has gone a bit out of his way to make disparaging comments about the Orange and has glazed over Cuse's rather impressive football history (that is not ancient history).

It's a valid comment. Have you looked at FSU's schedule? We're not better than Miami, Clemson, and Notre Dame. Even if we're on the verge of a breakout season, we're no better than the fourth best team they'll face. The fact that we laid one on them means they're going to have a dismal season, barring the unforeseen.

We have been one of the 5 worst power 5 teams last 18 years or so. Why would anyone buy in yet? Time to realize we’re essentially Rutgers in 2003-2004 when they started beating real teams again. Takes time to be taken seriously again. It’s coming but don’t get beat up about it.

The conferences and the networks are in partnerships. The B1G has the most money and is there for the most powerful partner. That is how business works, that is how the world works.

Let’s finish a season with more than 4 wins before we declare we need more respect from national media.

Even when we won 7 or 8, 3 times between 2010-13, the narrative didn’t really change. At the same time our best win was WVU and we never broke through with a great season that really turns heads(2012 was one early season W away IMO).

I think the VT and Clemson wins combined with a great 9-10 win season plus some other seasons of at least 7 are needed at this point. We’re getting there IMO.

Who did Rutgers beat in 2003-04 besides, sadly, a 6-6 Syracuse team?

Certainly not #2 Clemson, or VT, or even a down Florida State.

I have long gotten the feel that Herbstreet doesn’t care for Syracuse. I don’t get that feel from most other commentators. Makes me wonder if something happened in those 91-92 games that gave him a bit of bad blood towards Cuse?

Yup. He goes out of his way to take shots, and seems to downplay us whenever possible.

There’s a difference between what he does, and just being factual and straightforward about a team or program that isn’t very good.

Didn’t we play his teams in 91/92 from Ohio St? I mean to be hated usually means there was some respect at some point. I could care less to be honest. I love the zero expectations. If we continue on this path, they’ll be playing catchup on how they saw this happening.

Agreed. Except you know if FSU lost to The Ohio State, he would be presenting it as a good win.

If he wasn't a shill and was an honest analyst of college football, he might say something about how this is Babers 3rd season and he has them looking on the move with a likely 4-0 start. I believe that is what most knowledgeable college football followers around the country think.

FSU did end up beating Samford by 10, they didn't lose to them and we beat FSU by 23. Funny how he didn't include VT's win over FSU. Are they a suspect team too this year beating FSU only by 21?

Did he say anything about the actual BIG 10 losses to Troy, BYU, Akron, Kansas etc?

I don’t think his intention was to disrespect SU by lumping us in with Samford. I think it was more about how far Florida State has fallen, given what Samford is and how bad we’ve been for the last few years.

It was much more about FSU than us.
