Here’s the question….who’s in control of the team on the court..,

He’s a black hole once he starts driving. The amount of times we miss Kingz and Betsey with open looks on the perimeter to instead throw up some crazy garbage drives me nuts.
They are often one pass short of a good shot. It happens all the time. It’s maddening.

The last thing Starling wants to do is shoot foul shots when the game is on the line. That explains the vacuum. Compounded by the fact our PG was not even in the game. All said, Kiyan made a nice move and should have had been rewarded two foul shots. Regardless, this is a very poorly coached team, throughout the entire game, after time outs, after half-time, and most importantly, at end of game situations

We needed points. Two points to win, one point to extend the game. Time was running out.

JJ is the best guy on the team getting to the hole. Ball needed to be in his hands in that situation.

I'm not suggesting it's "ideal" to have JJ at the stripe with the game on the line. But lots of positive things can happen if he drives. He could score. He could get fouled [where he'd have two chance to get the one aforementioned point]. Maybe he scores AND gets fouled.

He could also miss. But you put the ball in his hands, and you put pressure on the officials to blow the whistle when he attacks. Other teams get those calls all the time at home. I watched Ohio State later that night, after our game, and they had a big deficit to West Virginia, but their senior 2-guard got every call down the stretch. We never seem to have that level of come court advantage.

So you "make" it by letting your best driver do what he does best -- attack the rim.

I'm reasonably certain that JJ getting to the rim is a big part of the end of game plan. The other go to guy is injured.

It's a bit ridiculous we are still having this conversation about him three years in as our go to guy at the end of games. Somehow he has the worst Player Efficiency Rating of anyone in the rotation and that includes George.

What we need to figure out is why George is playing significantly worse than he was last year.
I don't think that its much of a surprise. He's not performing that much differently than he did at GaTech, relatively.

He's not a magician. SU wants him to run a free wheeling offense where guys either stand still or don't know where to go to the point of repeatedly running into each other.

Starling didn't want the ball. So Kiyan stepped up, and made a good move. The bigger issue is why has Nait George regressed so much. Spent a lot of NIL money on him to be a lot better

I don't think he's a superstar, but he did have a PER of 16.4 in ACC play last year. It's 12.3 right now. He should not be struggling against the Hofstras and St. Joes.

Unfortunately, at this time, this is not a place for actual PGs to shine. It's a place for a PG like Judah to get stats in losses.

I get it. However, GT fans complained that while George had excellent vision and could pass well, he wasn't great at 1v1 and creating his own shot/offense. So Syracuse paid a premium for him to come here and ... try and create his own shot/offense without a functioning offensive system. I hope they didn't bid up Nait $1m+ to come here and be the kind of distributor he was at GT without an offensive system to get guys open. His assist% is pretty similar but his TO% is way up, which to me indicates (without going through PBP data) that maybe he's looking to pass but guys aren't open or ready or in position. His shooting from 3 is way down, which to be fair isn't limited to him.

On the defensive side, he's getting burned occasionally, but he still's the best defensive guard on the team.

His weakness on defense is closing out on shoulders. He’s almost always late. It appears at times he lackadaisical and slow to react.
