Basketball season is here and so is the annual Iggy Award prediction thread. I believe this is the 5th annual, but my math might be a little fuzzy. This year we are adding a new category for a tiebreaker which I am extremely excited about, since I believe it is going to be a tough one to figure out. Besides that, the rules are the same. Predictions need to be in by opening tip of the Carrier Classic. That's 8 pm Eastern on Friday, November 9th for all of you non-fans. REVISED-DUE TO CHANGE IN SCHEDULE, PREDICTIONS NEED TO BE MADE BY SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 11TH AT 4 PM.
Last year we had over 110 entries and the big winner was Orlando Cuse aka Seattle Cuse aka Punxatawney Cuse. I think he correctly predicted every single catagory last year. Not really but he did predict 30-1 regular season and 17-1 Big East season records. Pretty impressive, but that was last year and this year is this year.
Now we all know that certain people refuse to put their money where their mouths are, so please feel free to put those people on "ignore" especially when they start spouting off about this and that. (I will let you decide what "this and that" could stand for). Anyways, invite your friends and family and let's see if we can get over 150 entries. Vote early but not often. You can make your predictions now, but if you want to change anything after watching the exhibition games, you can until the picks are frozen when that first ball is thrown up in San Diego.
Here are your categories and tiebreakers:
1) Regular season record. There will be 31 games this year.
2) Big East season record. There will be 18 BE games this year.
3) Big East Tournament record. Could be up to five or six games. No one really knows the schedule but if you are playing on Tuesday, chances are you are not going to be playing on Saturday.
4) Post-season record (we will assume it is NCAA, but if you want to choose NIT or another post season tourney, please notate).
5) Leading scorer and how many points per game
6) Leading rebounder and how many rebounds per game
7) NEW CATEGORY-TIEBREAKER. Player with most minutes per game and how many.
1) 26-5
2) 14-4
3) 2-1
4) 3-1
5) Southerland 14.1
6) DJC 6.3
7) BT 32.4
