High school football in Texas

Carrier dome being built right now would cost about 200 million

I live like 45 minutes from Allen and saw these plans when they first came out. It's insane.

Note: if you want to teach or coach high school, Texas is a good place to do it. When you retire they take your three highest paid years, average them, and pay you that for the rest of your life apparently (based on conversations with people I work with...specifically about one particularl football coach).

Exactly what I would expect from Texas - priorities totally screwed up.

Per Wiki - "In 2010, Site Selection Magazine ranked Texas as the most business-friendly state in the nation, in part because of the state's three-billion-dollar Texas Enterprise Fund. Texas has the joint-highest number of Fortune 500 company headquarters in the United States, along with California.
In 2010, there were 346,000 millionaires in Texas, constituting the second-largest population of millionaires in the nation."

"The region's rapid growth has led Forbes to rank the Austin metropolitan area number one among all big cities for jobs for 2012 in their annual survey."

"According to Travel & Leisure magazine, Austin ranks No. 1 on the list of cities with the best people, referring to the personalities and attributes of the citizens."

I grew up in CNY and there is no place better than TX. I love our priorities!

Leads the nation in % of population without health insurance. Business friendly people deadly.

My wife and son are Texans, you son of a...

No, Texas really does suck for the most part.

If I could convince my wife...I'd be outta TX in a NY minute. 5 Months in NY, 7 Months in FL.

I'm working on her...hopefully by 2014.

The problem in TX is the vast majority of coaches are jokes as academic teachers...my boys avoided taking classes by 90% of the coaches in their High School.

We are a healthy bunch and the money we save from not having to pay state income tax allows us to pay cash at the emergency room when we get bit by a rattlesnake while out dove hunting.

Math & Science education rankings: MA #1, TX below average

Heathiest States: MA #5, TX #44

Ahhh...no thanks

I have read articles that in Texas it is not uncommon for massive high schools to be built in the middle of no where. Parents and families then visit these schools and decide to move to these undeveloped towns simply so their kids can attend these schools. A major part of recruiting these families is the athletic facilities.

I guess that's why so many are moving to Mass and leaving Texas. All those people voting with their feet.
