If anyone gets any scrimmage info let's put it here. Between brewfest and the bball game I've got my hands full.

Hofstra is watching the basketball game in the Dome right now.

Positive showing by Cuse thru 3q especially for D if possessions were somewhat balanced.

Hofstra came in yesterday and offers a fair early test , no slouch despite mediocre record last year - they competed very well agaisnt some good teams , beat Lehigh , loss by 1 to Nova, Towson and improved Drexel.

Gonna assume whoever doesn't scrimmage is likely to redshirt other than those temporarily shelved . Two scrimmages in one day are sometimes shortened after three q. Pleased that a recap is planned. Cuse social media has been a plus

In game one vs. Hofstra, all six offensive starters registered multiple points to key a first half outburst that saw the Orange jump out to a 10-1 lead at the end of two. Lucas Quinn was 'Cuse's leading scorer vs. the Pride out of the second midfield unit, scoring twice and adding two assists. Griffin Cook (3-0), Brendan Curry (1-2), Mikey Berkman (1-2), Jamie Trimboli (2-0), Tucker Dordevic (2-0), Stephen Rehfuss (0-2) and Chase Scanlan (1-1) all picked up multiple points in the contest.

Jacob Buttermore, Peter Dearth, Andrew Kim, Owen Seebold and Pete Fiorini also notched a goal, while Brett Kennedy picked up an assist in transition as well to round out the 'Cuse scoring.

Defensively, the Orange were excellent vs. Hofstra. 'Cuse only allowed 11 shots on net through the three quarters of play and eight of which were turned away by the trio of netminders who saw action. Drake Porter stopped all-four shots he faced, while Luke Strang and Willie Klan III each added two saves as well.

The tandem of Danny Varello and Jakob Phaup combined to win eight of 15 restarts in the first two quarters, while Nate Garlow won three of the seven third quarter faceoffs.

Against Vermont, 'Cuse got its offense settled in early once again, jumping out to a 7-3 lead in the first 15 minutes and owning a 10-5 lead through two quarters before both teams emptied their respective benches.

Trimboli (2-2) and Dordevic (3-1) led the way with four points apiece vs. the Catamounts, while Curry tallied three helpers and Cook notched two more goals to ignite the Orange offense. Buttermore (1-0), Andrew Kim (0-1), Andrew Helmer (1-0), Dearth (0-1), Quinn (1-0), Pete Fiorini (1-0) and Jake Nelson (0-1) contributed to the game two scoring as well.

Porter was again solid in cage, stopping six of the 11 shots he faced, while Strang made four saves in relief in the third quarter.

Lots of good to take away from the games save for that last quarter vs Vermont obviously. Not a lot of young guys mentioned so it seems a decent amount of redshirts are likely. Helmer had a goal against Vermont so I'm assuming he may still be seeing some time at lsm.

Nice to see Cook have success both games as well as Quinn. Modest numbers from Scanlan but with so many weapons that's to be expected. Sounds like the Kim's and Fiorini are again the third line. Disappointing that Magnan and Lipka didnt get on the score sheet, we need one of them on that second line with Buttermore. Seems like Berkman got a good amount of run or dominated that 3rd quarter either way that is a real nice sign. Wish they noted the three D starters.

Only other concern was only going about 50% at the X in the first game and no update on how the second went. Need more consistency from the top two guys this year

Desko said that Kennedy will flop back and forth between Close D and LSM depending on matchups. Also mentioned Mellen and DiPetro with good games.

Told 3 D starters were Mellen, Kennedy and DiPietro, unit fast and athletic played first halves of both games before before rotations starting in 3rd. First mid line as good as advertised . Berkman , Quinn and AKim been showing well.Think many frosh redshirting

Scanlon’s limited offense and the average production at the X also stood out to me.

We may be expecting too much from Scanlon but we’ll see.

Our two faceoff specialists are serviceable but I’m concerned if we eventually go up against a Yale or some other team with great players at the X. Standout play there was always a trademark of our best teams.

FOGO Herber for Hofstra won 56% of his face-offs last season, so he's a good test for orange FOGO's
