Not to be a super-downer after a brutal loss, but wow, that was so bad, and so lacking in effort. I can't recall a team ever getting boo'ed like that before, and I've been following the team since Roy's Runts in 1971.
Think about it - to the more casual middle aged fan, St. John's set up as a great time right before Christmas - an old legendary rival, but a 100% beatable team. And they flat out quit in that second half. Not just on each other, but on the coach. They won't play for him again. This team is done.
I can't imagine, after seeing a lesser version of this against another very beatable team in Georgetown, and getting embarrassed both times, that casual fans are going to show up for any more games this season. I wonder what the final impact will be on our attendance.
Edit: "Embarrassed" against Georgetown might be a little over the top, but we trailed the entire second half and never went on a run against them. I honestly felt like we were never going to win that game, even though we were within striking distance for the entire second half.
