Not to be a super-downer after a brutal loss, but wow, that was so bad, and so lacking in effort. I can't recall a team ever getting boo'ed like that before, and I've been following the team since Roy's Runts in 1971.

Think about it - to the more casual middle aged fan, St. John's set up as a great time right before Christmas - an old legendary rival, but a 100% beatable team. And they flat out quit in that second half. Not just on each other, but on the coach. They won't play for him again. This team is done.

I can't imagine, after seeing a lesser version of this against another very beatable team in Georgetown, and getting embarrassed both times, that casual fans are going to show up for any more games this season. I wonder what the final impact will be on our attendance.

Edit: "Embarrassed" against Georgetown might be a little over the top, but we trailed the entire second half and never went on a run against them. I honestly felt like we were never going to win that game, even though we were within striking distance for the entire second half.

I think inertia will keep a lot of people going for a while. They will think "this has to just be a fluke, right?" and head to the Dome. We have the holidays as a break and distraction and then conference play will be starting. Hopefully that and a thumping of Cornell will be enough to right the ship.

The administration knows attendance will take a hit now, so that will increase the urgency to correct things quickly.

It's probably going to be 2-3 years before people are happy again -- and that's assuming Hop is the guy.

Well for sure White/Gillon/Coleman/Roberson are gone.
So we have 6 guys possible.
Thompson/Battle/Moyer/Howard/
Chukwu/Lydon.

We have 2 2017 commits.
So we have 3 openings.
I think Lydon/Thompson/Battle are the 3 guys who could blow up in conference play and be options.
I think only Lydon has a real chance.
If he likes college he could stay but the other 2 don't appear ready.

I think we have 50/50 shot with Lydon
90/10 Thompson stays
80/20 Battle stays
100% Moyer/Howard stay
90/10 Chukwu doesn't transfer

It will surely hurt attendance. As a season ticket holder who has to make 1.5 hour drives in winter for games, it's easy to go when the team is winning, tough to watch this garbage.

I think Battle and Lydon both go.

Battle hasn't shown enough yet. I don't think he would go even in the 2nd round now. If he does well in conference play maybe.

Battle wouldn't get drafted. He isn't going anywhere. Lydon is gone for sure the achelis scare will push him to leave. The other guys will all be back imop.

I wouldn't be surprised if both guys are gone. What are they returning to next year? It doesn't look pretty and I don't think we have anyone coming in that can help immediately. If I am Battle I am questioning whether this roster shapes up to give me the best chance to reach my goals, same for Lydon - assuming both guys have professional aspirations.

75/25 Battle stays (any success in the ACC and you all know how quickly that road opens)
80/20 Lydon stays and leaves after junior year 100%.
Chukwu/Moyer/Thompson 100%

I just hope Frank doesn't opt to transfer. I think he's tougher than we give him credit, and I still have a lot of faith in the kid. Gbinije was exactly a polished diamond by his first year with significant time either.

The NBA isn't the only option for these guys. They could play professionally overseas or decide that the outlook here is so bleak that they would be willing to sit a year to find a better long term scenario. I have never before felt that this program was in a situation where players we need might take that avenue, but looking at where this team is at now and looking at what appears to be the "best" case for next year's roster, I just don't know?

I'd be more concerned about Lydon leaving. He's starting to put up big numbers. The Battle love on the board is crazy. Not sure what people see in him that suggests he would even sniff the NBA or play well in the ACC. Statistically he's been worse than Frank and that has to be really hard to do.

when attendance has been so great for so long with so many of the same people making up those crowds, people are going to take this chance to take a break. being a season ticket holder has got to be grueling even when they're really good. maybe it's just me. but back when the bills were going to the super bowl, it got to be a little grueling to go to only 10 games a year. i have a lot of respect for people who can go to more games than that for more years.

Battle has a higher probability of transferring (which is highly unlikely) before he would leave for the NBA (laughs) or to play pro ball in some obscure Euro league.

This is where the Dome hurts us. Who's going to pay 50 bucks to sit a mile away from the court to watch a terrible team? It's going to look and sound dead which can't help with recruiting.

I'm terrified we're going to end up like GRob football.

I freely admit it is based on nothing other than a gut feeling.

No, he's going to be here. The way Frank is playing right now, Battle may get his chance at the point sooner rather than later.
