Hubert Davis Seat is Less Hot Than Autry on 2/12/2025

Glad it's just not us, LOL.
To be fair this is old news. If you read the comments he got that extension a while back. Not sure why it’s making headlines today. Their fanbase is pretty up and down with him from what I can tell. They had some real busts in the portal ghat brought down their whole team.

Not to mention with no Bacot they don’t get to the line 30 times a game and have all the other teams bigs fouled out.

If you're from Iowa/Midwest like McCullom is I don't know if I agree.

I'm sure Indiana is considering him too.

Are they looking to get rid of McCaffrey, or is he possibly going to retire? He might not have made any Final Fours there, but he has averaged exactly 20 wins a year for the last 14 years.

He's only missed the post season once (apart from the COVID year) with 8 NCAA tournament appearances and 4 NITs.

For comparison, Boeheim had the same number of NCAAs, but only 1 NIT, and so far Autry with nothing in his first 2 years.

So, McCaffrey has done better than us since he was hired. The ACC used to be the better conference, but not since all the coaching legends retired or left.

I had not seen the amount prior.

Yeah Bacot got the most calls in conference games of any player in the last decade in the conference I think.

Hard to replace that line impact.

We're seeing that to a lesser degree with no Judah.

Yeah, rumor is McCaffrey wants to hang it up I think.

If you're from that part of the country, Iowa has a lot of history.

They've had some great coaches - Lute Olsen, George Raveling, Tom Davis (formerly of BC), and Fran McCaffrey is doing a very good job there, and has been there for quite a while.

Looking on Wikipedia, I see they were in back-to-back Final Fours in the 1950s, and lost to Bill Russell's San Francisco team in the Championship game. And they made a Final Four in 1980, beating the Louie and Bouie senior year team along the way.

I remember in more recent times, they had some great players like Roy Marble, Greg Stokes, Acie Earl and Ronnie Lester. They had a really good PG on those Marble teams, too, but I'm forgetting his name. Was it B.J. Armstrong, or was that a different era?
More recent times? Roy Marble played at Iowa in the 80s. Those aren’t recent times.
