HUGE pre-bye Win

This board is a wild ride, a roller coaster, the viper. After all the doom and gloom last week, now we are lining up those we can beat. Today was a step in the right direction and loved alot of play out there. but, we need to keep in mind that an offense of alot of frosh put up over 530 yards and was hampered by 15 penalties and 5 turnovers. GT was totally careless. Yes, it's nice our O showed some life.

they had 449, not 530. It was an outstanding defensive effort for large chunks of the game, and loaded with underclassman. They stepped up and shut down the run when they needed to. The turnovers weren’t lucky. They were sacks, or pressure or lineman getting their hands up. They were kids making plays.

we’ve lost to some pretty crappy teams because of our turnovers and penalties and nobody on the other side says yeah but.

A win is a win.

Defense isn’t as good as people said, offense while way below average certainly isn’t as bad as many were stating. The receivers seemed to be open today those D3 receivers as internet brain trust was calling them

Defense isn’t as good as people said...

probably better every week

I’ve been wanting GT for years, after that Shafer debacle down there. I was not happy that we didn’t get them “on schedule” 6 years later when they were horrible. Glad we still thumped them anyway.

Agreed.

Plus the Kick Off Classic and the Champs Bowl.

Sweet win today.

aside from Tucker, what are your biggest takeaways from today's game?
TD made excellent decisions. He kept the chains moving a few times with his feet. OL picked it up. Great job by all the young D players. Especially the young Dbs.

Yes, a win is a win and I also love the young talent. I dont make up #s. 539 to be exact and 275 rushing. .the D is skilled and opportunistic but they got ran over methodically also.

Agreed.

Ga Tech was running at will through much of the game - getting huge chunks of yards on almost every play.

We have to take better angles, need to contain better and must tackle better.

The youth playing yesterday showed. Cisco's presence on the field was missed. On the 4th and 8 that went for a TD, the safety ran over to cover the middle instead of helping Tyrell Richards. There's no play to be made on that side of the field if the correct play is made.

Dakota for Tisdale is an instant upgrade
He won’t be replacing Tisdale. There were 2 penalties called on him yesterday- one was an egregious holding call when the Dlineman he was blocking had his hand up so far up in Darius helmet that he was touching the top of his head. The other was an unnecessary roughness call when he retaliated to a cheap shot. The guy has graded out the highest of all our linemen so far in both facets. I know Elmore is a nice feel good story but he goes back to his normal role when Dakota gets back.

Who did Illoa(sp?) replace on the line that game? He saw a fair amount of action and I believe he was interior oline.

That's what worries me against NCST and Wake who both have beatable QB's, sam hartman is solid but northing special but if your either of those teams who both have great running games why not run the ball 70% of the plays, control the game suck the life out of it, we are improving, just like life one bad thing can lead to a bad period a time, the same goes for good things happening, hopefully a good win some improvements and we didn't play some amazing game on any side of the ball and won by 17, so some positive momentum let's hope we build on it.
