Hunt's Reaction To Decision

I'm probably the wrong person to stick my head into an interception discussion, for with my pro team, they are a necessary evil.

30 years ago Parcells told Simms...'if you don't throw 2 interceptions today, you aren't trying'...and we were off to the races.

Eli throws them with regularity and has 2 SuperBowl Wins to show for it. He's got to just sit back there and throw with reckless abandon in order for the team to succeed.

Maybe the Syracuse staff knows it can't move the ball without accepting a little black mark here and there and that Allen can pull it off and hunt can't?

Te play calling has been horrendous and I'm down on the staff, yet I've spent all week defending them.

Is it happy hour yet??
:bat:

Oh Lord

That's the most ridiculous logic I've ever seen. If you compare Drew Allen to Phil Simms/Eli Manning, you're you probably hit up happy hour way too early.

Four "little" black marks, plus many more that could have been, is too many in one game no matter who you are. 6 "little" black marks over two games is too many when you have 1 TD. If he was a 4 TD/6 INT ratio right now (or even three), I don't think you'd see quite as many people chirping about who's playing QB.

Playstaton nation chimes in.

Yup, could this be a record for longest thread on an unsubstantiated rumor? Or do I have to head over to the basketball forum for that?

There was an article, I think early last week, about Shafer having to tell Hunt and how disappointed he was. Shafer related to having to hear the same thing once when he was a player and how angry he was. Might have been a video instead of a link, can't remember.

I think OrangePA was referring to that. The timing of his post might have thrown that off, but I don't think there were any follow up articles about it.

I also was for Hunt when the options were Hunt, Kinder, Loeb, maybe Broyld, Zach Allen, and Austin Wilson.

I don't know what Allen showed during camp that gave him the preference over Hunt, but driving for a TD in the
last few mins of a game when down 48-20 is not exactly demonstrating a lot. Sure, better than 4 INTs, but I think
at that point, NW's thinking "just end this game without any injuries please."

And fans cannot give up after two games. Didn't we learn anything last year? SU was dead, at 2-4, and then the
adjustments and gameplan started working. Give the guys a little more chance to show something.

Kev

Now, I am going to get blasted for this and rightfully so, BUT I don't really give a crap what anyone thinks of me and you can all lick my hind end parts right after I eat 3 bowls of Skyline chili and workout for an hour if you don't like it.

So I would never never never actively root for a Syracuse player to get injured.

Or would I? (actually I did root for the rainbow hair wig guy to coldcock DeSean Williams instead of Otto that one time)

(shows self out)
Desean Williams didn't play for Syracuse. He played for HIMSELF.

we won't no who's better until hunt has a chance; either will the coaches.

EXACTLY! have too see Hunt play in a game if it is fact close and apparently it is.

If Drew had clearly separated I suspect that Hunt would have been okay with the decision.

Then he would have been the first back-up in any kind of competitive situation who was.

You read igor well. I was stuck on "no" who is better. I thought it was a jedi mind trick.

OK, I was just curious - thanks for checking, I know I can't always find what I need to back up what I think I remember seeing/hearing.

My money is that Allen was promised the position. And now the coaches are stuck between losing the team (that supports Hunt) and themselves over in the recruiting world (you make a promise, you keep it).

I think the coaches have to be very careful with how they proceed in this situation.

The one thing that set them apart Is Allen's ability to chuck it 70 yards. The fact that we don't appear willing/able to use said weapon makes you have to revaluate.

Perhaps if the coaches weren't in love with Allen's balls we would hand it off to our best offensive player more often? I have to think that if our new oc was a former rb coach vs wr coach this wouldn't be an issue.
if you're in a one read get rid of it offense, the ability to chuck 70 yards really doesn't matter much

if this hurts our ability to recruit 28 year old oklahomans, i'll live with it

This is what I was thinking reading this thread,

Or any 5th year senior for that matter. If we're in the business of making promises to guys like that, then we're not going to be in the business of winning.

The only promise you make to any recruit is that their education is free and they start out with a roster spot. Everything else (including the degree itself) is something you earn.

It seems like Allen biggest drawback is locking on to his intended target. That's what has led to most of his troublesome stats (batted balls, interceptions and low completion percentage).

I think that not looking off the defense is something that doesn't come up as often in practice. It's human nature for the defense to focus more on their assignment in practice (coverage, getting off blocks, etc) and less on reading the quarterback.

Now that we have seen how a fully focused defense can read Allen, I feel that his accuracy isn't as big a benefit because everyone knows where it's going. And we don't have receivers that get open enough for that not to matter.

The real problem is T. Hunt has problems understanding concepts the coaches are trying to implement. It's easy to look good when you are playing with the ones against the other teams third string.

Or it could be exactly what they said. Allen's a little better, needs to throw less INT - Hunts good and will play if Allen doesn't get better.

Agree to disagree. I'll take my chances with what I said.

I believe he was mostly playing w/ the backups and 3rd teamers, not the ones
