but this guy(s) gets it from our hoops board, the NY POST and the USA TODAY. Between what looked like red Rutgers like helmets to the Georgetown colored uniforms I wasn't sure who was on the field playing ND...:bang:

I know "but the kids like it", blah. Reminds me of the analogy of when homes used to be parent centered households cranking out more well behaved kids vs. the now child centered households where it's all about the kids turning out all too many little self absorbed entitled narcissists. Same thing here. Forget history, forget tradition, forget loyalty, forget what the (majority) of the fans want, this based on my own unscientific survey.

It amazing to me how nearly completely disconnected I've become watching us play. A real connection is lost with these ridic unis. Oh well, back to my porch to yell at the kids and throw a rock at that dog...

John Bender gets it. Nike should hire him as a uniform consultant.

I agree with you.

And am truly pleased that somebody else can explain what I feel.

I am hearing more and more complaints, and not just from +50 year olds.

More and more are complaining that many in the Athletic Department do not understand the yearning for the traditional look because they are not Syracusans - they are professional administrators who are performing a job - tradition does not intersect with their world view.

This sums it up perfectly for me. It's like I don't even know who I'm watching and cheering for anymore. I'm wearing Orange and the team I cheer for and watched for 30+ years is wearing anything but

I have to admit I'm in that boat. And I even agree with you guys! But if that's what everyone wants to talk about, fine with me. I can find other uses for my time.

I give up. We should go with what the old fans want. It's clearly not worth the endless discussion and complaining. They can't tell who's who on the field and are suffering from an emotional detachment as a result. We need to do it for them. Let's rock a look from the 80's to make them feel better and know who to root for. I'd gladly see us trot our the McNabb era uni's with 2 star recruits over reading one more uni post. (Nevermind proof that it helps with recruiting)...

And lets play in a half filled dome and subpar competition too. That should reel in the big 2.5 star guys. Also let's ditch the efforts at a modern offensive game plan and go with three yards and a cloud of dust! Why try!? I mean if things don't stay the same, they change!

More Orange please. Just based on a small sample size of the 22-28 demographic that lives in my building: a few people who came by during the Notre Dame game all thought the red helmets were ridiculous (not in a good way) and thought the gray uniforms were hideous. I thought they were OK to start but looked awful once the players started sweating on them. I did hear from two other fans of other teams that they thought the blue uniforms were some of the coolest in college football.

Excellent comments from alums in Bud's column today, including one from Dave Cohen, whom I vividly remember from my younger days. Loved his voice, his broadcasts and his passion for SU when he was on the air, especially those TW taped re-broadcasts on TW-13. I'm not old, just older. :)

some great to the point comments in there as I guess we're not the only ones. And they want a big ORANGE OUT this weekend?! Yeah right. I'm going back to wearing black like I did until a certain coach was given the pink slip. My own private Idaho statement until someone up there comes to their senses. I'm sure it will make exactly zero bit of difference. Zero point zero in fact, but I'm starting a "Black out" campaign, whose with me...(picture Bluto running out the door)----- ahhhhhhhhhhhh...... Oh well, at least it will give me some personal satisfaction.:eek: Me with all this......:bat::crazy:

The name and the brand is ORANGE. Modify the uniforms all you want, but don't leave out the color which represents the name and the brand

I agree... But aren't orange uni's coming?

Also: Nothing can be done now, right?! I mean we aren't shelving this whole uni deal now - we will have to live with it good or bad for a while. I just want to see/hear less complaining. I know, I know - I can ignore the 10 posts a day. But then it's infected the BBall forum too!?

My kids are 11 and 7 and they think our uniforms totally suck.

So there's that.

:)
couple of old farts at 11 and 7. Whatever you do don't give em a front porch! :p

Solid proof you've got there. Those recruits said the #1 party ranking was as much of a factor as uniforms, MetLife...didn't hurt things, but none were major factors. You aren't having a discussion- you're making generalizations that everyone who dislikes the Syracuse Blue-Grey is 50+ and out of touch. Now you're going to roll your eyes and say that your way is the only way to get better players.

Most people are saying new uniforms are fine, but why mess with the traditional color scheme. We've changed the hoops unis and other than the mis-matched ones, people get over them quickly. Some like the Mel0-era, some like the cursive Syracuse, and others like the new look. Even when people are mad about the blue or platinum, they know it's a one-time thing.

My biggest complaint is that the AD did this for branding and they have completely failed in that regard. Why is the only jersey available for purchase by the public, the blue one?Why is the only thing left unchanged the Block S, I mean if you are going to overhaul, then make the 44 axes the new helmet logo and at least have something cool and unique. Just a complete whiff by the SUAD http://shop.cuse.com/COLLEGE_Syracuse_Orange_nike_jerseys

Not to be dismissive of you or the post - but I was straight up trolling. I simply cannot take another thread on this. It's like a proxy for the feelings of dread everyone feels after a loss.

My bad- end of a long work day. I tend to agree about it being overkill, but that kind of points out how bad of a failure it is doesn't it?

Maybe it's me I thought the uniforms, especially the uniforms were pretty sweet. Most of my friends and the rest of the people sitting around me felt the same. Sure would love to see more orange, but if the gray is a one off I have no problem, plus the orange is coming. We can't wear orange every game.

I know that I'm probably in the minority, but I liked the uniforms last Saturday, for the most part. I could have done without that weird sweat saturation pattern that appeared on the players, but I thought the numbers were easy to read, and the helmets were @#$ aweome.

Now, they were far from perfect. I didn't get why we had so much blue "trim" all over them. I saw an article today that compared the blue piping to decals from 80's rural pickup trucks--lol!

But in my mind, this was the top combo I've seen for us, since this latest Nike deployment. By a long shot. That they are being deemed the worst is more indicative of others not having seen the other putrid combinations.

Hey, Nike: a little more Orange, a little less emphasis on the blue, please.

And whover on your design team has fallen in love with that gradient effect on the colors--it's probably time to demote them.

It's not just you. They looked cool. Sure, there were things about them I'd change if I were the designer, but overall I agree with you.

Then again, I got a call during the game from my best friend from college--guy is a full blown M, who loves to bust balls. He compared them to crappy XFL uniforms. I can see that, but overall I liked them a lot better than the combo we wore during the Maryland game.

More of that helmet, please.

Agreed. Orange socks, cleats and undershirt would really push it closer.

I miss our old uniforms. I'll take the ones we wore during Marrones time here than these plain @$$ unis.
