Im quite certain the vast majority here realize that the rankings in college basketball are sort of a joke, mean nothing, and are just something that give some degree of incentive to teams/fan bases for a largely drawn out and not always meaningful regular season.
Having said that, what do you think would happen in the following hypothetical?
-team A is 25-0..ranked number one in the nation..having played a solid schedule and are from a power conference.
team B is 21-4..ranked number two, also have played a solid schedule and are from a power conference.
team A loses to some random but decent team in a closely contested game...
Team B wins its game..
what would the next week's poll read?
Team A still number 1?
Team B now number 1?
im 99 percent sure that it would be team B number one just because they won and number one lost.
it is for this reason that polls are a ing joke.
