Mark, was it the "fantasy" or the "things are getting wild" reference that triggered this connection for you? A cigar is never just a cigar...

And the fact that 690 "liked" the post...

Lucky for me, I know you two!!

Agreed. And if it is indeed Frost, I'm fine with him vaulting for Nebraska in a few years. If he's done well enough to get in the door at Nebraska, it means he's winning 8-9 games here. I'm fine with that.
Ive learned to accept that if it happens and I am not embarassed to say that the guys on this forum changed my outlooked on that. I use to be set on bringing a guy in thats gonna stay. Not anymore. Use us as a stepping stone and make us more attractive for the next guy. Eventually we will be able to pay a guy to stay for a long time.

The bummer is that I think we were a couple seasons away with Marrone from being ready to employ that approach successfully. But he left when the program was still too fragile and we've seen the results.

Yep. And look at it this way:

By the time Frost is ready to jump to Nebraska (or wherever) he would presumably have been winning 8 or 9 games, and hopefully the Dome renovations will be complete, so it should hopefully be MUCH more attractive for whoever the next hire is after that.

Or his offensive coordinator is ready to take over and keep the offense rolling.

Would make very little sense. Great recruiter but what else does he give us? Nothing says give our offense thew Dome advantage like another defensive coordinator.

I read somewhere that Alabama had the best recruiter in the nation. A team with a great football tradition in the best conference with the best coach and the best facillities and the best fan base and players with NFL talent doesn't really need a recruiter. Schools like that sell themselves. LSU is much the same so I would take any recruiting success he had at LSU with a grain of salt. They didn't choose LSU because of him.

He has been a great recruiter everywhere he has been. And when you are at a place like LSU, you are recruiting against Alabama and schools like that. LSU has the #1 ranked recruiting class this year.

every single option being mentioned, without exception, represents an upgrade over what we had. Coyle wont miss on this hire. Have faith.

Every team that has ever made a coaching change has thought that. It isn't always true and it isn't in this case either. We have no idea what Frost or almost any of them can do with their own program.

True, but we can believe it for now!

Couldn't agree more and the piling-on needs to stop.

Scott Shafer is a great man and represented SU with dignity. I'll always have the utmost respect for SS because he and his staff ran the program the right way. Unfortunately, that doesn't carry nearly as much weight as the win/loss record.

I think this is looking at the situation from a macro perspective. I am not sure how well ed o did at lsu. but to gauge, I think you need to see who he got to commit, who he was up against, and what the circumstances were. if ed o got some guys from situations where they would typically have gone elsewhere, I do not feel you can totally disregard his impact. its a tough thing to judge, but im sure les miles could give and honest opinion, if forced.

If Frost is the guy Syracuse needs to step up and give him the cash. Dan Mullen could leave Mississippi State and they would target Cal coach Sonny Dykes. If Dykes left Cal they would target Frost.

We need to make Frost the Syracuse Godfather offer or move on.

Honestly, I get the sense that if the deal isn't finalized by sometime tomorrow, that's exactly what Coyle will do. Move on, I mean.

agree. there are a million spread offense guys. don't get too stuck on one of them and end up having to hire someone way too late. we've done that silliness before.
