that 7% difference means going for it would've been 20% better than punting. (42-35)/35

Oakland's D got like five 3 and outs in the first half. After the first drive Orton sucked in the first half until the last drive before the half.did you watch the game?
he was getting annihilated all game. i don't know how anyone could watch that particular game and be more convinced that orton is the problem. for once i actually agree with marrone hereOakland's D got like five 3 and outs in the first half. Darius injury hurt the Buffalo D, but Orton was not good yesterday. His numbers were inflated with those 2 2nd half TDs when Buffalo was chucking every down and no hold was called on Tuck on that last TD.
Buffalo is a top 15 QB anyway from being a playoff team, a top 10 QB from challenging NE in the AFC East and Super Bowl.

It's interesting that DM passed on Nassib to draft Manuel, who has been MIA. And Nassib was one of the best QBs of the entire preseason. Coughlin loves Ryan as the #2.
i thought the offensive line was so pitiful in every way, i don't think there's much to say about anything else for that gameI did. I'm not a Bills fan so I'm pretty unbiased as to the results of the game. It was only the second Bills game I watched all year, so I don't pretend to be an expert on all things Buffalo Bills either.
IMO, the Bills offense is severely limited by poor QB play and mediocre OL play. Orton's throws were pretty bad against Oakland. He was quite inaccurate with several throws and the ones that were caught weren't always thrown to the best of places. His first pick to Woodson was an awful decision. You just don't try to make that throw to someone like Chandler. He's not exactly Jimmy Graham out there -- when he's covered, he's really covered.
I think someone earlier in the thread was disappointed for Hackett not calling more downfield throws, however, Oakland played a ton of 2 man under defense in this game. They pretty much tries to take away the deep ball and force Orton to make accurate throws in the intermediate game against man coverage. Again, really not his strength. Orton can push the ball downfield pretty well but really struggles with pre snap reads and that level of the passing game.
Buffalo really needs to invest in a couple of offensive lineman as well. They failed to get push in the ground game and didn't hold up the best against a mediocre Oakland pass rush. I'm not sure if injuries (again, not a Bills guy) have set in with that unit, but they looked pretty poor there. I do know someone who works in the Bills organization, and I believe they are looking to address this issue.
I too hated the 3rd and 1 call by Hackett. The field was crappy, so there's no guarantee those quick routes are going to really work out there. Brutal call compounded by Orton's brutal throw. I have no idea why he didn't add some touch on that throw either.
On a side note, I know Buffalo is supposed to have all these weapons on offense, but the only guy I saw with any electricity out on offense was Watkins. Woods really struggled to get any separation out there and I really don't see any difference between him and Hogan. Jackson is getting long in the tooth and Spiller is made up of balsa wood.
Speaking of Watkins, I know much has been made of ODB, Evans, etc. However, if Sammy had better QB play I'd wager to say that he'd be offensive rookie of the year. There was an incomplete deep ball to Sammy maybe early 4th quarter where Orton overthrew him by a few yards. It looked like the db had great coverage on him until Sammy hit his second gear and pulled away from both the corner and the over the top help. Missed 6 there. It reminded me of the TD in the Dome last year against RIshard Anderson I think. Kid is special.

I understand Murray was coming off knee surgery and a crowded backfield yet he would've had to sit out a year so there's that. And he would've been the best back on the team, so there's that to. Murray was from Syracuse and wanted to come back home so don't tell me anybody wanted to do right by the kid and lastly, Marrone and his relationships; good lord, I'm not going to take players from pedophile state because Bill is my friend, I'm not going to let an NFL caliber back transfer back home because George is my friend. Makes me wonder if marone recruited against any of his 'friends'.
Bitter? Nah, Marrone can't lose enough for me because I don't like the guy.
Losing at the half to the raiders lol.
The Chiefs just had to beat the Raiders too, but they lost @ Oakland. That loss will likely make a difference as to whether they make the playoffs or not.
The close losses this season to @ Houston, KC, @ Denver, and @ Oakland are coming back to haunt the Bills now.
Also, the last 4 game stretch of the schedule is brutal this year (did the SU Athletic Department schedule this?). Buffalo had a game @ Denver, then back home against Green Bay, then fly out to west @ Oakland, then fly all the way back east to play @ New England to end the season. The only way it could have been worse is if they had played @ Seattle instead of @ Oakland.
Even if they had beat Oakland yesterday, they still would have needed to be beat New England this coming week-end and get a lot of help to make the playoffs. They need to keep the defense together and improve on offense this off season and they can make a run next season.
neither of which is a legitimate conspiracy. The only recent legit funny business of note is the nfl's decision to sweep spygate under the rug. Brady and co still have 0 super bowls without an *The refs helped the Bills in fact. The Tuck phantom hold and the missed hit to Carr's head.
Raiders conspiracy > Bills conspiracy

Good luck finding one of those Top 15 or Top 10 QB's though. They don't grow on trees and if you draft one be prepared to go through 2 or 3 years of growing pains and having the kid take his lumps (ie Tannehill, Kaepernick, Dalton, RGIII...etc.) Luck is a once in a generation type player and Wilson went to a team where they ask him to do next to nothing, those are exceptions not the rule. And once a team gets one of those guys they almost never get rid of them when they still have some gas in the tank (Brees is the only modern era example of a "quality" QB being on the open market I can think of off the top of my head.) All joking aside Buffalo should look at someone like Mark Sanchez and have him compete with EJ next year then draft a rookie QB in the middle rounds and hope to hit paydirt.Oakland's D got like five 3 and outs in the first half. RG III and Cutler will be traded this offseason and Hoyer will be a FA. Both of them would make Buffalo a playoff team.Good luck finding one of those Top 15 or Top 10 QB's though. Hoyer sucks. RGIII is going no place the owner loves him. And Cutler is a train wreck. If he can't play well in Chicago with all those weapons and a pro bowl team (on offense at least) in Chicago he will be a disaster anywhere else. Cutler's best days are behind him.RG III and Cutler will be traded this offseason and Hoyer will be a FA. Both of them would make Buffalo a playoff team.

there's a reason urbik's back in the lineup. the guys they drafted and signed were horribleUrbik sucks. There's a reason they played a 5th round rookie OT at OG ahead of him as long as they did.
there's a reason urbik's back in the lineup. the guys they drafted and signed were horrible
richardson and kuondijo were so horrible that they make seantrel henderson look like a bright spot
i thought they could at least get the o line right. whaley stinks drafting offensive players. the only way he can get anyone good on offense is to overpay
chris williams wasn'tThey are all rookies.
This staff has proven they can coach up offensive linemen.
