on the differences they saw in Lester's offense and McF-it's, especially if you can compare against Fan Fest last year. How many bubble screens did you see?

No bubble screens. There were a few screens thrown. Everything was very basic play calling that you would see at any level starting in Pop Warner. They showed 0 in the way of wrinkles. It was all just old school line up and run basic plays as they mentioned it would be. Most of the running was done between the tackles and down hill. One deep ball from Dungey to Womack, the rest were in the area of 5 to 15/20 intermediate range. Most were cross routes and slants carving up the middle. There were no fades thrown in the red zone which I expect to be going to Ish, Custis, Adly. Unlike the past, there was nothing cute about it, just good hardnose old school football. For the most part, the pocket was pretty secure for the first team O but it was 1's against 2's. Got to also take in consideration that the D new what the O was doing as they have been matching up all spring ball and 8 practices now against the same players.

I assume bubble screens are still a part of the offense. It's a good play when run in the right situation. ND moved the chains on us all day using them.

Our problem was that the previous OC just used it as his safety call, which he apparently needed way too much.

That will certainly change.

Our problem was how it was executed. The receiver never mad e a move, just stood there. And he had one blocker out in front with inevitably at least two tacklers bearing down on him. ND and other threw to moving targets with at least two blockers out front.

Thought I would throw up every time a bubble screen was called. 75% of the time: +/- 1 yard. 15% of the time: 3 yard loss. 10% of the time: 3 yard gain.:vomit::eek:

ND took advantage when our corners played off. We just called it no matter what. Corners playing bump. Safety or OLB cheating up, numbers not in our favor. Just kept calling it.

So yes, it was execution problem at times, a design problem at times, and mostly wrapped up in an OC that was in over his head.

our problem was our OC who was horrible

The go to excuse. It was also massive injuries and not having the talent some teams had.

Did you see a bubble screen thrown in the scrimmage? If you didn't, then why would you assume that bubble screens are still part of the offense?? Just curious.

Because they should be part of any offense?

I'm guessing there are several types of plays in this offense that weren't run yesterday.

It's was all 3, but injuries was number 1. 1a was a crappy offensive system that didn't fit the talent we had.

Speed is mandatory in everything in football. No db's ever play off our guys.

Marrone seemed to recruit big target guys with mediocre speed in hopes they could catch the ball in a crowd and maybe break some tackles. Now we are going more for the smaller, quicker, more elusive guys.

Those bubble screens last year...the blocking was terrible.

Was it because of poor execution? Play design? A lack of blocking ability (talent)? I think it was a little of all of the above. It was pathetic. It looked like a Three Stooges bit.

Had to be execution right? Notre dame smoked us with the same play. What seemed like 100 times.

They should be a part of any offense, really? How many bubble screens did we run before 2003?

How many do you see in the NFL?

We were afraid of giving up deep passes vs their WR. We gave them the screen.

Sorry. Meant college. Should have realized that wouldn't be obvious.

Us not running them since 2003 probably proves that it should be part of a playbook.

Just need an OC who knows when to use each part.

Really? You take the slow guys and I'll take the fast guys and we will see who wins more.

I'll take Mike Williams, Alec Lemon, Sales, and West. You can have all of our "fast" guys from the last 10 years.

I win.
