I assume bubble screens are still a part of the offense. It's a good play when run in the right situation. ND moved the chains on us all day using them.
Our problem was that the previous OC just used it as his safety call, which he apparently needed way too much.
That will certainly change.
Our problem was how it was executed. The receiver never mad e a move, just stood there. And he had one blocker out in front with inevitably at least two tacklers bearing down on him. ND and other threw to moving targets with at least two blockers out front.

It's was all 3, but injuries was number 1. 1a was a crappy offensive system that didn't fit the talent we had.The go to excuse. It was also massive injuries and not having the talent some teams had.
Speed is mandatory in everything in football. No db's ever play off our guys.Speed isn't mandatory to run a successful screen.

Had to be execution right? Notre dame smoked us with the same play. What seemed like 100 times. Those bubble screens last year...the blocking was terrible.
Was it because of poor execution? Play design? A lack of blocking ability (talent)? I think it was a little of all of the above. It was pathetic. It looked like a Three Stooges bit.
Because they should be part of any offense?
I'm guessing there are several types of plays in this offense that weren't run yesterday.
Really? You take the slow guys and I'll take the fast guys and we will see who wins more.No it's not.
CuseOnly said:They should be a part of any offense, really? How many bubble screens did we run before 2003? How many do you see in the NFL?

My spouse would hit me every time there was a bubble screen, I have a few bruises remaining.Thought I would throw up every time a bubble screen was called. 75% of the time: +/- 1 yard. 15% of the time: 3 yard loss. 10% of the time: 3 yard gain.
