I really like Boeheim sticking up for Melo in the media

Number 1, it's great publicity for the SU program for JB to insert himself into the media discussion, especially at a time when we want to close on a couple kids to get 2014's class wrapped up.

And beyond that, Melo being in NYC is what makes this all possible. When did JB ever speak up in the press to defend Melo when the Nuggets were going out in the first round year after year? JB knows the media game pretty well - despite his occasional "lapses".

This is great for the SU recruiting machine. Soooooo glad that Melo plays for the Knicks and not some anonymous team in fly-over country anymore.

I recall JB talking about Melo in similar ways when he was with Denver. It's just that there are many more people listening now that he's in NY.
