I think Okafor is the next great NBA center

I see some Al Jefferson. Al is a really good (and sometimes underappreciated) offensive player as well with nice moves around the basket. But he is not an all star.

Okafor's development as a defender will determine if he moves into the next class.

lol...hall of fame. The guy is the most overrated defensive layer, ever. Two years of watching his lazy, inconsistent ass in NY was more than enough. How he ever got DPY is a mystery. He must have naked pics of somebody. BTW, he wasn't remotely the play Towns is now when he was a Rookie. Also, career averages of 9.3 rebounds and 1.3 blocks is not "hall of fame"...even if he averaged 18 points.

Chandler wasnt great his last year or so, but he was playing injured a lot. He was a great defensive player his first year in NY. The Knicks (somehow) had a top 5 defense in 2012 getting major minutes from Melo, Amare, and Steve Novak.

And when Tyson was a rookie he was played 71 games in the NBA and averaged 11 points and 9 rebounds per 36 min. Towns is averaging about 16/12 per 36 on an SEC schedule. Not sure exactly how to translate the two, but my guess is Tyson was playing a slightly tougher schedule.

Very biased in favor of Chandler, I think he's been a very good, albeit flawed, player.

Okafor is hands down the top pick - it's a no brainer - for starters he plays center and every dominant NBA center in its history has rings with Ewing being the lone exception - sure he has to get better - Dave Odom said he suspected that Tim Duncan would be the first pick but also said he not clue that Duncan would go on to be one of the 10 best players of all time - so yeah, Okafor has to get better but his ceiling is numerous NBA titles - who knows if that comes to fruition but that's his ceiling

I'd take Towns over Okafor. I think if Towns got the minutes Okafor gets, or was in a system like Duke's, he would put up better numbers than Okafor. I don't see Okafor becoming super athletic at anytime and/or being able to dominate, but he still will be close to a 20/10 guy for a few years until his knees can no longer support his big frame for 35 minutes a game.

I'll have some of whatever you're smoking...

Chandler's help defense was atrocious during his NY term. For kicks I started charting his help challenges and the man was like a turnstile. Plus, man to man he was an open door. He got it on reputation but I was never impressed except the one year with Dallas that they won it.

He won't have the size advantage in the NBA to just overpower people. What I see is a guy that doesn't rebound out of his area, doesn't defend the rim or on the perimeter at all, can't shoot FTs, and has no offense outside of 8 feet. Actually reminds me of Eddy Curry. He is not a franchise player. I'll take Towns all day and wait for the development. He will be a much more complete, much more versatile player.

I see more Sullinger in his game than I do any Anthony Davis, Hakeem or Duncan. As a NYK fan, Towns please.
