There's been a huge debate at ESPN on running this story to begin with.

Huge debate.

Now I wonder if that still exists this morning. Or did some people at ESPN simply not know there was a tape or that a third accuser was about to step forward?

I'm guessing there was a group at ESPN, an inner circle, that knew it had more evidence but wasn't leaking that outside the inner circle.

I'll have to talk to my source again.

Yep. I would guess high level managers knew of the tape, and that the "newsroom staff did not".

My guess initially was that the case was weak, now I think they were worried about how them sitting on the tape for years and not turning it over to the police would look.

Honestly, everyone involved in this story looks like absolute crap right now. A story with no heroes and no shortage of villains...

SVP talked about the hesitation when the report first came out.

When I saw the Schwartz interview on CNN this afternoon I just about exploded. His statement that ESPN does not feel it is their job to report such horrible allegations to the authorities is not good enough. Sorry, heads must roll. This is as bad as Paterno and the rest of the Penn State administration covering up the truth. ESPN execs need to go.

That is the second bit of good news today. Schwartz just ran his run-a-way bus over his bosses at ESPN. Did he really say this??

he did not use the word horrible, but he did state that ESPN feels it has no responsibility to report such abuse when they uncover it.

he did not usr thwe word horrible, but he did state that ESPN feels it has no responsibility to report such abuse when they uncover it.

If true, they are as bad as Paterno.

Is that really true? Did he say that? A sports news agency feels they don't have a responsibility to report a crime (especially one as heinous as this) if they become aware of it? Yikes.
