Nixon And Nunzio

An OC in the NFL working under a Head coach who is considered the best offensive coordinator in all of football right now Is a bad spot? There’s no guarantees but Ok
NFL head coaches have very short leashes. How many guys get fired after one year? You just do not see that in college, absent scandal. Also, it might make more sense for him to work with a defensive-minded head coach and be given free rein.

Edit: Link, 34 NFL coaches lasting one season:

This is how agents get their clients some quick bumps. All part of the game. Have Syracuse quickly sweeten the pot, then if he is on a 2 year, reset his start date and solidify him being around for the all important year 3 of this program in 2026. If he gets hired away at the end of 26 it means we had another good year and the program will have good momentum to bring in a strong backfill at that point. Win/win for program and Nixon.

I can't see a scenario where Johnson doesn't call his own plays. Who is he going to get that is better at it than he is? He likely will get an OC, but that person likely will not be calling plays, just helping with the game plan and dealing with offensive personnel. Totally see Nixon getting offers, but his best spot for sure will be under a defensive HC where he will be given the reins on offense.

I cant hear you.gif

Nixon is probably looking at that Temple level for the time being. My concern is Fran becoming a commodity that teams throw stupid money at. These other guys don't worry me one iota. Schools are gonna come at Fran. I wouldn't be surprised if the NFL comes at some point too.

I could see him going to the NFL for a coordinator position. Wasn't he only running backs coach with the Giants?

So far today the Bears have brought on Antwaan Randle El as WR coach and JT Barrett as QB coach. Both were with Johnson in Detroit. No word on OC yet.

I would be shocked if it’s Nixon
I just don't know that he has much of a resume as playcaller yet. He did very well, but it's not the NFL and does he really know Ben Johnson's system that well?

Yes, that's why another year would suit him here. If he can show the creativity he did last year, even with that killer schedule, his reputation and resume would be better for having the extra year of play calling experience.

Nixon will end up with a great job and he knows it. I think he stays until his daughter graduates unless he gets a great job. I wonder if he wants to be a college head coach or head back to the pros. My guess is the pros.

I could definitely see him wanting to be an OC in the pros as his next stop.
