Any Jerry Welch stories? I learned he passed a few weeks ago. Potsdam coaching legend. RIP.

Yes. My dad went to a coaching clinic in Westchester sometime in the mid to late 80s which of course was Welsh’s prime coaching days. Every major coach in the country was there. There was a Q&A session at one point hosted by Dean Smith. Coaches of all levels asked questions, and then at one point Jerry Welsh stood up and asked Smith something. Smith cut him off and said “Jerry, why on earth are you asking me this, I should be asking you the questions!”

Showed how revered Welsh was by everyone.

I see Potsdam is ranked 16th in the latest NYS High School Class B poll, so he must not have much support on his team.

They're a young team, couple sophomores are the other main contributors.

Won the Class B Section X Championship and will be playing against Marcellus in the State Regionals at OCC next Sunday 3/15 @ 11AM
