Idle Speculation - who replaces Bernie Fine?

I don't think he would, but there are more assistant coaches at big schools that will always be considered for coaching positions than a low-level MAC coach. You're right, though, it will depend on how well he does at EMU. If he is very average, like .500 for 4 years, I could see a comeback.

Considering the team has been .500 only twice in the past decade, I'd say if he goes .500 4 straight years it'll get a lot of attention.

Much easier to get a large conference head gig as a Mac HC than as an assistant at some other large conference school. I think the staff all moves up 1 and Hop brings in a big man coach he's familiar with. Not necessarily an SU guy or an experienced coach. I like the idea of DC. If Louie is unemployed I like him even better though. Not sure how well Hop would know Louie though.

GMac will eventually get a gig somewhere. Unless he really loves it here I can't see him being a lifer as an assistant coach. I agree that JB and Bernie will bow out together. Herm seems like the most likely choice to join Hop's staff. Is Etan even coaching? I'm guessing he will try his hand at politics after his playing career is over.

He can begin their training at the all night egg plant. What's the big guy up to now a days?
Rosie lives in Kendall and comes to the SUNY Brockport campus several times a week to play pick-up ball at noon. Last I knew, he was involved with a minor league professional bball team in Buffalo.

Thanks...so he's staying near his home and still doing the thing he enjoys, good.

Was told that if offered Hop was gone to PC and Bernie was going with him.

DC would be good with the team as an ocassional "motivational speaker"

I'm thinking HH, successful coach, good connections, big man, although not a Center, and last but not least he will continue the Cuse tradition of big men that can't make a free throw. Believe it or not these are HH's FT %:
frosh 33.3%
soph 42.9%
jr 26.9% holy smokes
sr 42.5%

Derek Brower was never worse than 36%.

I find it intersting that we all want to replace Bernie with someone the complete opposite of Bernie Fine. Maybe we should be looking at Paul Giammati or Jason Alexander. One of their Dad's used to be commissioner of baseball and the other once played an assistant GM of a baseball team on TV. But they'd look the part.:) I'm just sayin...

I know. And Mchale used to be an NBA general manager. And I'm occasionally sarcastic.
Then use italics man, makes me look bad.

I'm not sure what you're getting at...

Just that most of the names being thrown around are former big men themselves. Bernie was not that. You dont; ahve to be a former big man to coach big men. probably wouldn't hurt sometimes.

wrong

...since JB has alluded to fact he is not in hurry to step down, I believe Bernie is going to be around for a few more years...maybe even up to 3-5...so lots can change.
